Hey everyone,

I just realized that this week is the 5th anniversary of The Police Tour finale in New York, so I thought I'd pop in and say WASSUP! and post a few memories of that magical week. Feel free to add your own pics or links.

August 5th, 2008:
I, along with a bunch of other Nutters, was getting ready for "Jones Beach 2" on Long Island!

I went to all the previous shows in NJ and Jones Beach since the fan club assured everybody those would be the last shows. Grrrr.

So I did not go to MSG.

Nevertheless, it was great to see them live. I saw them seven times plus the gig at the Apollo.

Writing this note of gets me a little steamed. I'd still like to know who was the idiot who convinced the boys that not many people wanted a new album. UGH!

Police fans were dying for new material. That album would have been an instant number one.

Hiya Charlie ! Great to hear from you! Five years ago today, I was in a hotel room in New Jersey, looking forward to a bittersweet and historic couple of hours. And it was - from the B52s to the real NYC police drumline slammin' thru Message" with Stewart, right up to the Fat Lady and the Nutter meetup afterward. A truly magical time in my life. Hard to believe it's been five years already. Seems like only yesterday.

Five years ago right now? I think I was in a midtown NYC branch of HSBC getting them to call my UK branch to un-cancel my damn bank card. The day got very much better very quickly after that.

ETA: DOH! I hit submit a wee bit early.

Those bonkers few days in/around NYC were unforgettable. (Charlie providing much-needed name tags for the pre-MSG meetup still makes me smile - with thought processes like that I really can't believe he's not a teacher, which is a compliment.) That whole 14 months was incredible. The only downside of that last week, and particularly that last hurrah at MSG, was that not everyone could be there.
