Needs no further explanation:

... and it DOES need YOUR signature!

Thanks to our old friend at the Police Archive for firing this up...

I added my signature.

That is a great video tape. Lots of interesting things on it that should be available on DVD.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

Anyone have any ideas how to keep the momentum going on this worldwide? It's already stared slowing down...
There's a link up at Stingus, a facebook posting going around...

Maybe folks could spread it around facebook a little more?

Unlike U2, the Floyd, Genesis and the like, the Police generally have a much smaller presence in online fan communities and I'm scratching my head trying to work out how to mobilise the fanbase that is out there (I mean, look how many people went to their reunion shows for Zenatta Mondatta's sake!)....

Ben (I didn't create the petition, Craig Betts did - but I'm trying to help out)

Although it's a great film, the thing that's always really bugged me about Police Around The World is all the overdubbing on the live stuff - totally unecessary in my opinion, especially in such blatant form.

I would absolutely love to see a standalone Frejus 1980 release, free of studio trickery (it seems only the clips of Roxanne and So Lonely are completely live and untouched). The quite decent-sounding audience tape of this show shows that again, apart from a flubbed bass note or two during the mud-slinging incident during De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da, this was a stellar show. Those summer '80 shows are just on another level!

Agreed about the overdubs, but sadly I am pretty sure that the original masters are gone. I know Eagle Rock now own what is left of the "Around the World" (ie Zenyatta tour) multitrack / video recordings and the chances of them releasing anything are about zilch as long as a certain ex-dictator will have anything to do with it. Buh. He's such a damned poopy-pants. The Police are about the only major band of the last 30 years that *can't* have anything archival released because a founding member says "I'm not interested in nostalgia".

Anyone? Bueller?

Pretty sad that it's already basically stopped at under 250. *Nobody* has any ideas how to get this out there?

If this was U2 the thing would have been filled by now... so what can we do to get more signatures?

U2's still an active band - 'Police Around The World' is a long deleted video (that I don't believe even saw very wide distribution) by a defunct band. Just sayin'...

I am however a bit letdown by the lack of more in-depth discussion regarding live Police recordings (and not just the handful that everybody owns i.e. Melbourne '81), unless there's some forum that I don't know about where these kind of discussions take place. There are some cool comments here and there when something pops up over at Dime or TTD, but that's about it.
