Question to Jeff: gadget of choice

Postby roddswett on 17 Jul 2013 17:00

Hello Jeff,
Hope you can help us with this one. Many drummers relay on drumdial devices for tuning. However, I find it a little incomplete, since only give readings for drumhead tension between 70 and 90. In your experience: Do you think is it helpful to combine the Drum Dial with "pitch reading" tuning devices, like Roland tuners or others? If so, which is your gadget of preference and how do you combine them?
Many thanks.
Rod

I have used a tension reading device to make certain that the head is even at all points. Mostly, I use my ear and the resonance of the drum to tell if it SINGS!
