OT RIP James Gandolfini

OT RIP James Gandolfini

Postby njperry on 22 Jun 2013 19:09

In light of Soprano's star James Gandolfini who passed away this week, I was reminded of his appearance in Stewart's book "Strange Things Happen" (page 306):
"One of our guests [to the final Police concert] is Deborah Lin and her fiance, Jim. I had fun describing them to Brad [Sands] as a beautiful, tall supermodel with her boyfriend who looks kind of like Tony Soprano. He doesn't have much trouble picking her out of the crowd, and her friend looks just like Tony Soprano because Jim turns out to be James Gandolfini. The high point of the whole tour of the whole tour for Brad was to get an Italian neck clasp and kiss on the cheek from James."

At the finale, I saw Gandonfini after the show as people were leaving the floor. He posed for several photos for fans.

RIP.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

Just sick over this. Am currently re-watching the series in memoriam... hard to watch those scenes with Ma, when we know both of them are gone. RIP.

The Sopranos was a very well done show, with solid performances from all the main cast. Even as a Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky resident, I could somehow identify with Tony and his family. When I flew into Newark a few years ago and took the train into New York, I couldn't help but sing Woke Up This Morning to myself while cruising through the North Jersey landscape. James was a talented actor and he'll be missed. His performance as an escaped convict in The Mighty (partly filmed in Northern Kentucky) was very good as well.
