Jefferson Airplane: RIP Joey Covington

Jefferson Airplane: RIP Joey Covington

I read that Joey Covington, the drummer for Jefferson Airplane, died on Friday. I wasn't a huge JA fan at the time, so maybe someone else can speak about his illustrious career here. Rock'n'Roll Heaven.

I have to say that listening to some Jefferson Airplane stuff, there is something related to The Police, I don't know what exactly, but it sounds to me they had some influences on The Police sound

The only Jefferson Airplane music I have is their second album and first with Grace Slick, Surrealistic Pillow, a classic psychedelic album from the summer of love of1967. The late Mr. Covington wasn't the band's drummer then, and I am not as fond of their subsequent music.

As to Gio's question, I wonder if Andy picked something from Jefferson Airplane when they were both doing psychedelic music at the same time and Airplane being a big influence on such bands. But I am just guessing. I don't hear the link, but only listen to one Airplane album anyway.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music
