Question for Stewart

Postby Marshmallow Jones 1 on 15 Mar 2007 14:38

No offense Heidi, but where were you when Stewart did his DVD signing tour last fall? He made a bazillion stops, including NYC (where I met him and got my DVD signed). It was a fun event and it was before all of the reunion hysteria got going... It was a perfect opportunity to fulfill your 'life-long dream'.
Thanks Stewart!

Last fall.......hmmmmm last fall i didn't go anywhere cause I was still mouring the death of my dad and grandfather. They both passed away at the end of 2005......so during the year of 2006 I didn't do much of anything......I didn't even get a season pass to Six Flags New England. I didn't feel like going anywhere pretty much.

I am still trying to get though life without a dad.....it's hard you know......both my mom and I miss him like crazy.

I'm taking her to see The Police in July and it will perk her up and I am psyched beyond words.
Hey guys, remember Stewart is a super-busy guy and thousands and thousands of people would love to meet him...I'm sure he'll accommodate you if he possibly can but don't be too disappointed if things don't quite work out.
Word to the Divemistress.

I think it's important to keep in mind, folks, that probably close to EVERYONE here would love to have a chance to meet Stewart and/or one of the other guys, somewhere or somehow. I feel very fortunate to have had that chance once before in a much less intense and crazy environment than what will no doubt surround these concerts.

I think we should all be glad that we get to "meet" Stewart here on the messageboard on a somewhat regular basis. And not go crazy or push the boundaries of good behavior necessarily beyond that. I know how "icky" I personally felt in Los Angeles at the ArcLight screening of "Everyone Stares" just to be caught up in the middle of the swarm and rush of people trying to get to Stewart after the screening. Not exactly the kind of experience I'd want to be at all apart of again, in retrospect, though it's easy to see how a sort of fannish hysteria can overtake people.

Anyway, there are times and places and ways that fannish "meet-ups" can happen, and I'm sure **IF** or when possible we'll hear about it from Gio or whoever else will let us know about it.

I just wouldn't get yer hopes up too high that Stewart's just gonna see someone's random post here and just invite ya out somewhere after a show, you know?

Word to sockii and a seconded word to Divemistress. There are 3 gazillion of us; there are only 3 of them.

Besides, everyone knows that the fastest way to get to a band is to get to a roadie. 8) <*ducks*>
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I don't think there are many female roadies :D

Which puts us "GUYS" at unfair dis-advantage.

Hopefully one day I'll get to meet the great man in person, but I think with the enormous amount of attention this tour is creating. I have a feeling I may not meet him this time around. :(

I hear ya, animal. I think this year will be nothing but pure *madness* as far as the tour and all goes...I'm all for giving the guys a bit of breathing space, I'm sure they'll need it!

Generally speaking, I'm not a big fan of meeting my heroes - I'm pretty sure the experience would leave me feeling like an insignificant twat.

I've been in the same room as various famous types that I admire and that always kind of felt like a big treat in itself! Mostly I admire people for what they do/produce rather than who they are, so meeting them could potentially spoil that if they were a bit of a knob. I think it's unlikely that meeting Stew would have that effect but I'd just get cringed out at myself being a 'fan' I think!

If I ever bumped into him in the pub I'd probably buy him a pint though...

Heidi--I sure hope you and you mom rock your asses off and have the time of your life...cheers to you both :D

About the celebrity thing...I have neer taken the oportunity upon seeing famous people to get autographs or anything...I always want to leave them alone unless it's something like the ES event or a signinig, etc...I had to miss the MD festival last Fall because I was taking comprehensive exams at the time, but unless I really thought I had something to say besides <gush> I'm not sure I would have tried to get an autograph/meet him anyhow...

I was in line behind kd lang getting coffee in Seattle (where she was playing a show the previous night) and although I felt like I was going to pass out (she's one of the people I can count on one hand...Stewart being #1 in that list...that I feel that way about meeting) I didn't dare bother her...Speaking of kd lang, just my luck her only appearance in the south (Atl) is on the Friday of Bonnaroo (unless you count Virginie, giggle)...<prays hard for some last minute miraculous guest surprise appearance at Bonnaroo....please!>

I know its half joking, but there was already a thread on TPT about where they might be staying...omg, I hope no one tries to bother them at their hotel...I guess it must be unbelievable to have all that adoration and love, especially after they have just rejoined, but it probably wears pretty fast...and I think "icky" is the right word, Sockii :)

But I can still dream that Klart Kent or the Police decide to do a secret, last minute appearance at like the Paradiso or Melkweg in Amsterdam since I'll be there all the week, LOL :)

Well, since some other people are talking about it, I'll throw in some more 2 cents...

I sincerely don't mean this to be a lecture, and it's not directed at anyone here, but I think we need to remember that all three of the guys are hugely, insanely, crazy famous. Which means a whole bunch of things. Lucky for us it means that we get to read their words in interviews and see them on DVDs and stuff, but for them it means some things that aren't much fun: invasions on their private time, pesterment of their children and other family members, and even attempts to meet them by some that go beyond the bounds of normal decorum.

Nobody has put me up to this, but I beseech you on behalf of some other famous people I've worked with: Please be respectful. Think how you'd feel if literally hundreds of thousands of people wanted to be around you and some of them refused to take "no" for an answer.

The guys probably have psychic barriers of a sort, but I guess my "ick" feeling extends a little to oohing and aahing over the physical attributes of the fellas: Sure, you'd have to be blind and stupid not to notice that all three guys are very attractive, brilliant, and all that, but they're also all happily married, I'm sure to very wonderful people.

I guess what I'm saying is, let's all have fun, but make sure if you can that things are fun for everyone involved, including the band members and their staff people. Thanks for reading. D.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!
