Very OT: A computer question

Very OT: A computer question

Postby moonstone on 06 Feb 2013 19:08

This is a ridiculously OT question but I know that there are Nutters out there who are clever at computer stuff. I also know that Nutters are generous about sharing their knowledge.

Here's my question and I'd be really grateful if anyone knows the answer.

I've just started an Open University course which requires me to have Microsoft Office so that I can submit my assignments. My computer is so old that it is virtually steam driven.
If I buy Microsoft Office as a download, which I can do at a vastly reduced price through the OU site, is it transferable to another computer if mine turns it's toes up and dies mid course and I have to get another one?

I've never bought software online before so i don't know if it's possible to transfer it to a new computer or if you have to re-purchase.

Can anyone advise me?

Many thanks

You have to see how many licenses you get per download.

Moonstone - if there isn't clear info from where you're downloading it, I'd bug the OU. I'm sure you won't be the first of their students with this concern, and they're a lot easier to get hold of than Microsoft :-) Good luck with the course.

Thanks very much for the info and the good advice guys.

I'm going to try downloading it after work tonight and see what happens.

I'm really enjoying the course. Part of my first assignment is on Cleopatra which was a perfect excuse to watch Carry on Cleo again. :-)
