Sounds like The Soul Cages Part 2, but likely not as good.

It's obviously the Last Exit reunion we've all been waiting for.

The exicitng news is that he is continuing his tour from 2011 until at least 2013 playing old music.

While I would be willing to see the tour (and tried to go in the Fall of 2011 before the concert date changed) if near home on the right day, I can't say I am excited.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

vespapod was pushing for us to go last time around. I see he's doing some AC dates this summer, so...maybe. But I have such a visceral distaste for hearing Police songs when they're NOT played by S,S & A together...

I stopped following what Sting does around the time Mercury Falling was out. No wonder I missed on the musical thing.

Im on one today after the exciting news is an extension of an already extended tour.
For a price i may purchase a package that includes a greet and meet ok.
Last year i spent two days in London with my Son and spent one day at RCM with an event with Stewart, after the event we got to meet Stewart and whilst there his daughter took a couple of cracking pictures. Oh and we met some other fantastic s/c nutters. All this including travelling from Manchester cost a lot less than a meet and greet with Sting.
Something wrong here !

I guess this is the "exciting announcement":
http://sting.com/news/title/back-to-bas ... -announced

I totally lost interest in Sting since "The Soul Cages". I really enjoyed his first 2 solo albums, and I still think "The Dream of the blue turtles" is one of his best works, competiting with The Police recordings. But since then, what happened? Probably he feels more comfortable by duplicating again and again the same formula, with no risk to take. It's really sad to see such a talented artist falling this down. I'm afraid we definitely lost him.

Yep, just saw it at sting.com This is it. I wasn't expecting a Police reunion, but this is a let down. Saw this tour in 2011! Was good, but to consider the same old as exciting "news" is disappointing...really.

What I cannot understand is this:

Sting puts together an awesome lineup of musicians who can play anything. He has a huge catalog of great songs.

Yet he does an entire tour and plays the same songs night after night. That's actually ridiculous.

I don't want to hear any BS about the lights being arranged in a certain way. That's the ridiculous statement I read sometime during the reunion tour. No fan gives a flying fukc about the lights when you go to see the Police or Sting. You are there to listen the the trio's magic.

Sting has played probably at least 1,000 concerts with Dominic and/or Vinnie. You're going to tell me these guys can't play at least 50 Sting/Police songs with one hand tied behind their backs? Yet when this tour starts, I'm sure they will play the same 18-20 songs they have been playing for 25 years. And they will do the same songs every night.

What gives?

I love Sting, but his tendency is to be rehearsed and prepared with little to no surprises. I remember Stewart talking about Bonaroo and how he wanted to approach it with a more improvised set, but Sting overuled and demanded the same fixed set. Sting may come from so-called jazz roots, but Andy and Stewart are much more jazz in spirit. Considering Vinnie used to play with Zappa, that is such a waste.
