COPELANDFEST on Rock Hall of Fame Induction!!

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 14 Mar 2007 03:24

Yeah, me too. They would have owned the night had they all shown up. I thought it was big of Hagar to make kind remarks about the previously-planned tour with Roth (can't believe he didn't show up over some tiff over the backing band).

As it was, GMF rocked the hizzouse. I was glad to see R.E.M., also. Honestly, I thought the quality of their work had suffered the last few years, but I saw 'em play in 2004 and they were as good as they've ever been. I'm going to see Pete Buck play with Robyn Hitchcock this week, in fact...

It was nice they thanked Miles, Jay Boberg and the staff at IRS also. Those albums tend to get lost in the fray over the WB albums but those 5 IRS albums were the best, and Miles should get credit for that. I've loved REM since they were the best kept secret in music. I can't believe I'm old enough for my favorite bands to be inducted. Sheesh.[/quote]

Amen to all of that. ^

I saw REM in 2003, and they were incredible, but I HATE that I never saw them as a quartet. The WB albums got the press -- and there are some amazing songs in there (e.g., "Country Feedback") -- but their IRS albums contain a great deal of their most incredible work. "Swan Swan H" is worth the price of admission alone.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I am a big fan of the original Van Halen with Roth. I know he's a jerk but on stage he was great.

We should thank our lucky stars that The Police are not at all like Van Halen, what a mess.

I was exited about them with Roth again but with rehab and Roth doing his crazy thing...I dunno.

again The Police come out looking like the pro's that they are.
Cheers.

I was happy REM played songs from the IRS years. Hub and I were bracing ourselves for "Stand" and "Shiny Happy People."
