You can tell I'm procrastinating on finishing my paper, I told myself, "Just one more song!" I chose Don McLean- American Pie. Great song, not sure I fully know what it's about, but when did that ever stop me with any song?

Heard this band called the Allah-Las over the weekend on Little Steven's Underground garage. I bought their eponymous debut album on Saturday night and it has quickly become one of my favorite releases of 2012. They have mastered the retro sound perfectly (a mix of the Byrds, the Animals, and a bit of Bob Dylan among others) while still have an identity of their own. I'm bummed I missed them when they came to DC back in October.

The Who - Alpine Valley - 7/23/89

I have been listening/watching several boots from their latest Quadrophenia show, and despite my enthusiasm, have been somewhat saddened. Daltry really is a mere shadow of his former self. And this is coming from a guy who defended his performances at the Rock Honors show and Superbowl. But possibly just as bad is Townshend. I thought he still had a much fire as ever on their last tour. But it seems like the Quad show was just the result of relenting to some arm twisting from Rog.

I did not think the 89 ("Who on Ice") tour would age well. But at least Rog's voice was still very strong on that tour.

I always think that a 'three-chord' attitude is one of the best way to make music, as well as they way you conceive it and play it to the public. Sure they remind me of many bands, but music has no age, it's all about the feeling you get, when you listen to it and when you play it.
