Have fun tonight, sockii, Dave, and Con!

Copelandous D'Amour wrote:Caught this tour in Toronto last night. Peter splits the show into three parts. Acoustic, full band and then the So album itself. It was incredible and much better than the Symphony tour which I also saw last summer.

No Stewart and no Laurie Anderson but the back-up girls from Sweden do a great job. Maybe Stewart in LA? All the players from the original tour are there and just watching Tony, the two Davids, and Manu play together is incredible in and of itself.

Try to catch it if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed!

Thanks for the report, Chris. So damn excited! Do you remember about how long the show ended up being? (Just gauging my drive home Sunday night.)

It's a 2 hours and 15 minute set to be exact with the back-up singers opening for Peter. The originally opening act got sick unfortunately and had to fly home. A class act, Peter comes on first and introduces the singers.

I don't completely agree with this Toronto review although it's not a bad one.
Spoiler alert the set list is at the bottom of the review...

It's a brilliant show.

Go. You will love it.

Truly a show for the die-hard fans.

(Working on a review that isn't OMGOMGOMG at the moment.)

^Excellent.

Thanks for the info, Chris. Sockii/Con, am I right in seeing that there now is a short opener, namely the ladies who are also singing backup for Gabriel?

Yes. It's very, very short - maybe 3-4 songs, tops, but there is a brief changeover time before PG comes on stage. I wasn't keeping an eye on my watch, unfortunately, but by my photo time stamps I think he was starting his set by 8:45 with an 8pm start time for the openers (and they are quite enjoyable).

But I've got tickets in hand and am so ready for Jones Beach! Will totally be worth the hassle of trekking out there. YAY.

Have fun and bring a blanket. It will be 60 degrees at 10:00, not including wind chill! At least it will be clear!

Chris and sockii are completely right: incredible show, and you should absolutely see it if you can. Amazing talent, no bullshit, and exceedingly gracious. I am so glad we went.

ETA: Thanks for the link, sock. I'll share some photos after I've gotten through them. I hadn't planned on doing so, but I may end up writing a review as well just to get all the thoughts in my head out!

Looking forward to your thoughts & photos - looks like you had much closer seats that we did! Though truthfully we were very happy where we were, on the first tier from the floor just 5 rows up. With some height-challenged individuals in our party we had a great view overall of the entire show, and were close to the soundboard to get good sound as well.

You and your kids have an excellent time, Mario!

Finally got the chance to get through some photos and put the greatest hits together: http://dirtymartiniii.smugmug.com/Live/ ... &k=d8ckSkT

Sorry about the watermark: I find it so jerky, but it's also now that kind of world, so I'm relenting. If any of you PG-goers would like copies of any of photos for offline use, just give me a shout.

Manu Katché was a bear to get a shot of, so of note for the Manu fans:

Good review, sock. I didn't want to read it or the Rolling Stone review before I wrote mine to avoid inadvertent influence, but we ended up hitting on a few similar notes from different directions. I'm hoping mine posts this week.

Have a great time, anyone else going!
