Stage show? What'll it be like?

Postby blueseattle on 12 Mar 2007 16:55

The thing is... if they do a basics show it'd be great, but they're also playing stadiums and arenas. They need somewhat of a set up and definitely some screens.

Now if they were playing theaters and such. That'd be a different story.

I dunno. Some of the best stadium/arena shows that I've seen were minimal on the glitz. But I can certainly understand people wanting all the big show elements.

In which case, how about Stewart does a DRUM SOLO in a rotating cage a la Tommy Lee? That way when he spontaneously combusts (or pukes), the mess is contained.

I'd, um, kind of like to see that happen to Tommy Lee. Stewart, not so much...

Agreed, Divemistress. But you gotta give the people what they want.

I'm sticking with my hope for the bare bones entree with the drum solo dessert.

Well there will definitely be two screens at the Dallas shows (there always are), and for the ticket price I'm sure there will be lights (no lasers, please!).

And since we already know the layout of the stage, there won't be a runway.

Of course, Philip. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b85/y ... peland.jpg
That's the only version I've got -- it came from an eBay auction.
(Please don't hate me for the link, Gio!)

I assume that screens (and lights) are a given, aren't they? I've never been to an arena or stadium without them.

I suppose the stage colour will be mainly black, no effects but a bit more superior lighting systems. No runways/b-stages but they'll really need pretty big screens. Maybe a large writing of the band name above stage similarly to the background at the L.A. show? All things considered I believe the show will be rather puristic than bombastic. :)

Big stage with screens is fine. Hershey's a fairly small venue but if you're in the Outer Mongolia area of Dodger Stadium you're going to need some visual assistance. Thank God, I'm going to Hershey!! BTW...just got my tickets in the mail!!! YAY!!! *claps hands does a de do do do dance*

Something occured to moi earlier. There has been some discussion about back-up singers, tapes or Sand A actually singing. Our man Stewart said he and Andy "suck" as singers and that the parts where'd he need to sing are where he needs to "blaze" on the drums implying he probably wouldn't be singing.
He was wearing one of those Janet Jackson head mics on the Grammys.
Seems sort of unnecessary for one who's not going to sing, eh? Is Stew having us on with the "we suck" bit? I didn't see whether he and Andy actually sang on the Grammys. I was too excited. Did anyone notice :?:

I don't believe the mics were hooked up. It actually became a source of some slight controversy that Sting samples were used as the backing tracks. There's been quite a bit of discussion in these parts on the subject of backing vocals, if one looks around a bit.

Congratulations on scoring tickets! Oh, and Samburu Sunset is, like, the greatest song EVER....

I dont want synchro outfits myself...a bit out of date for guys now, but cool back in the day.

Something cool would be some really neat, fog, lights, and go jet black, get quiet then start off with a really cool Copeland intro solo to get the energy f*ing rockin in the house, Tee hee.

Whoo Ya!! Rock on.

Guinness Time..lol.

Yeah Jed, SS is like a symphonic piece of nature. I love the animals and the the tribal chants. I had to listen to it before I went to bed last night. I've said it before, he's a genius! :D

re: Sync - no no no
I personally feel they went mainstream with Syncroncity. That's not to say there's not some good stuff on it. Play them, play them! But, I agree Irish, definitely NOT the goofy costumes! Back to basics, boys!

Something occurred to me lately. What if they debut - good gracious - new songs on some of these dates? Oh maaaaaan.

Simple set, fairly basic light show, no clutter on the stage

And to start it off...Miles Copeland's famous intro over the speakers after the lights have gone down... "Are you ready for the greatest rock band in the world? Are you ready... for THE POLICE!?"

And then kicking right into "Synchronicity I" or "Message in the Bottle"

That, my firends, would be killer. The crowd will go ballistic!

Is Stewart reading this? If so, pass it on.
