OT: Whatcha cookin'?

Can't treat my ADHD with meds b/c I'm allergic to almost everything, so I wind up eating sugar all day. I'm having some success with killing the cravings thru exercise, but it all really went steroidal when I quit eating meat. As it turns out, foods like yogurt - which you'd think would be mostly protein - are loaded with sugar and I wound up gaining about 15 pounds.
Have you tried Greek yogurt vs. the Americanized yogurt? Greek yogurt tends to have twice the protein and half the sugar, and it tastes so unbelievably rich that it actually fills me up in the morning and makes a great snack too. I bought some regular yogurt last week for the first time in maybe a couple years (because it was on sale) and I couldn't even eat it - it tasted sickeningly sweet and nauseating to me. Both Chobani and Fage Greek yogurts are my favorites.
I LOVE Greek yogurt. Very good choice for a diabetic, due to the higher protein and lower sugar content than regular. I have one almost every day. Chobani blueberry and pomegranate are my faves.

I've actually been going to Whole Paycheck and shelling out for the Siggi brand, which has even more protein and less carbs. It's expensive as hell, but I'm just not gonna buy an entire new wardrobe, dammit. And they don't sell concert t-shirts in size mega-X...

Most recent challenge: finding more low-carb, semi-veg cookbooks. There's not that much in the MM book (and I'm actually not going to try to do that diet start to finish, you're only allowed about 20 carbs per day and I can't find some of the things they say you need: "low carb bread"? Lowest I can find is still like 7 or 8 grams per slice.)

I think I'll make some progress if I cut back on desserts and (unfortunately) mojitos.

You are the best. But you already know I think that. :D

Actually there are some great recipes in the MM Cookbook, and a goodly number are meat-free. Honestly I'm really pretty happy to know all this - hadn't really realized how carb loading can kill your waistband.

LOL sweatshirt with a hood. Basically a staple of my fall and winter wardrobe.

Today was roasted summer veggie risotto. I've been watching way too much MasterChef this summer and realized I need to perfect my risotto technique if I'm ever going to try out for a future season, so...(sorry for the crap iphone photo)

(Yes, I am hardcore serious I nearly tried out this past season but the D.C. casting call was right when I had too much Other Crap going on. If there's a season 4 I AM SO THERE for the tryouts. You don't even want to know.)

Just harvested our 1st yellow squash and tomatoes from the garden this morning. I plan on roasting them with olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. I'll add fresh basil and mozarella when the veggies are done.

Sockii, you are amazing. I don't have the patience to cook well. I like to keep the food and prep/planning simple. Low calorie, low carb, high protein, high fiber, no "junk". No high fructose corn syrup. Well, except for ice cream. It's in every stinking ice cream I've looked at. No white carbs, except pasta, because my family would not go for that! When we get chinese take out, I get steamed veggies with brown sauce on the side and brown rice, and eat it in 2 nights. I do pick at hubby's chicken or beef, but I don't get my own entree like I used to. Only whole wheat bread, english muffins and pita chips. I have actually made myself a steak sandwich with peppers & onions on an english muffin or pita instead of a subway type roll. I read labels. I measure everything. I LOVE Chobani! The apple cinnamon one tastes like apple pie milkshake! Over the last 6 months of last year I gained 4 pounds, but I lost it a few months ago. 4 pounds may not seem like a lot, but it is when you are under 5 feet tall. As LMFAO says, "I work out". :-)
