I agree with EQ.

The 2000 SciFi channel Dune miniseries with William Hurt is a MUCH better take on the great book:

I will add that there is some nudity and sex in the 2000 version, so not for all ages.

Interesting to see the orange-haired Harkonen clan (Sting and Kenneth McMillan) dining together. Also cool to see Sean Young getting plastered for her Still Suit fitting. If I was making a movie in Mexico, I'd probably want to get plastered as well.
