By the way, the DODODO track was released as a 'secret' track on some copies of the DTS Police Very Best Of compilation, but was not listed as '86 version on the tracklist...you only got to be lucky to buy the one with the 'new' version.
Anyway, it was released only on that format (DTS 5.1)

By the way, do you know what finally did happen to "De do do do, de da da da '86"? Is it the version released 'by mystake' on a compilation that came out in 2000, as some say, or is it still unreleased? Thanks for your informations!
It's already been detailed here as to where it exists commercially but following are some other details.
Most of the recording was created with Sting's Synclaviar (sampler-sequencer) plus his new vocals. It may have some live bass and guitars as well but I can't confirm without hearing it and I haven't listened to my copy in a while. De do do do and Don't Stand So Close To Me were scheduled to be worked on by the group; however, days before checking in to the studio, Stewart broke his clavicle in a Polo accident which resulted in the absence of any live drums on those tracks.
