Holy Weather Channel, Batman! An earthquake in Italy, a tropical storm in the Atlantic (Alberto. And Hurricane Season is still two weeks away!), wildfires still in Colorado, and at least one tornado (Dorothy we are not )in Kansas.

It was 93 freakin' degrees in Baltimore yesterday!
It's not even summer yet. I hope this isn't a sampling of what's to come.

I'm hoping it will be one of those summers where we get the heat wave out of the way early and we wind up having a cooler, wetter than normal summer. Either way, the cold front that will break the current heat wave here in the east should arrive in time for some sunset fireworks (firing the sunset gun?).

Friday night an F1 tornado struck Hampton, Virginia, about 25 miles southeast of here . And this was just a "severe thunderstorm warning". Oh, boy.

today we had a nice day with some clouds and some sun. we had a wonderful family picnic. it was a calm time and we had frozen choclate bananas but they melted a little so if that as bad as it was then today was a good day

Last night we had one of our "thunderstorms"...this morning a wake of debris littered everywhere, trees on homes, some power outages. I heard it was even worse in DC and Northern Va. And 101F again today!

Last night we had one of our "thunderstorms"...this morning a wake of debris littered everywhere, trees on homes, some power outages. I heard it was even worse in DC and Northern Va. And 101F again today!

We got hit bad too. My power was out for about 24 hrs. I'm probably one of the lucky ones.
It wouldn't be so bad if it was so damn hot! I heard it was bad in VA.
Some of the downed trees I saw were incredible. Big old oaks with huge limbs just torn off. I saw one that must've been in the front yard of one house and it fell and took the gutter off that house and the one next door. It was a mess.
But, all things considered, we're safe. Just a little put out for a day or so. Makes you realize how much you take for granted.

We were under a tornado warning last night: right in the thick of it. My boyfriend and I took blankets and pillows into the downstairs bathroom (what good it would have done us, but...) Dodged another bullet, but it was worse for us than Friday's storm. And more predicted.
