64 % OT - Gotye

Do y'all have a lot of English-language radio in Germany, or is it mostly in German? I still have a cassette of some great German pop a friend of mine made me back in the 1980s. But then, I still love Trio...

Credit card?! Why?

Allegedly they're trying to crack down on spammers.

I've already had one religious uncle unfriend me because of my liberal, gay-friendly posts and photos, so I've kind of given up on making the family happy on FB. I'm not adding anyone else that might not like my views. Still not happy about the new timeline profile that will soon be mandatory.

I've been getting in trouble lately for the photos of homeless pets. But I have had a few people jump in and help out on trying to find fosters for some of them, so I'm not about to stop putting them up. Told one guy to just unsubscribe from my updates in his News feed, which is a good alternative to unfriending.

Mrs. EQ was sure that this was a new Sting song when she first heard it.

To me, the alleged "Sting"ish parts sound more like Ozzy Osbourne than Sting to me.

But I'm strange. As all you know.

I attended a Jimmie Kimmel performance - and really enjoyed it. They were fantastic.

Heard Gotye just this week on a local "terrestrial" radio station (ok, a college station, but still, good stuff!) Liked it a lot (thanks to Dietmar, I actually knew who it was, but Husband thought it was Sting.)

Got the whole album on Itunes after my daughter bought THE SONG.
LOVE it.
Check out this one. It's a Sting/Steve Windwood/Paul Simon/Peter Gabriel/Don Henley mash up straight out of the 80's.
Can't stop listening to it.

At this rate, this thread will need to become 32% OT.
Interesting how it all sounds.

Agreed, it's overplayed and I would hate to see people get tired of him as a result.
It's been interesting to watch numerous friends emailing around or posting on Facebook to say "wow! check out this guy!" because it happens so rarely anymore. Perhaps that's what leads to the overplaying. I'm glad for something new and different yet oddly familiar.

That said, I'd pay good money to see the 60-year-old Sting sing "Somebody I used to Know". I was just listening to "Certifiable" on my way home and thinking how well Sting sang on Tourzilla (and afterward as well) and how his voice has changed but it's still interesting.

God, yes, I would pay to hear that as well! I would actually seriously love to hear him put a personal take on that song. Brilliant idea.

Thinking about it again, YES...he really should. Even if just for fun.
And if they wanted a female voice for the version with Kimbra, I nominate Annie Lennox. I've seen them sing together and it's good stuff.

One more percentage point for on-topicness, thanks to TOWOS: Gotye's dream band:
