OT: RIP Greg Ham of Men at Work

A bad week for music death continues.

Greg Ham of the Australian 1980s band Men at Work has been found dead.

I loved Men at Work's first album, Business as Usual, which I listened to with the Police in the early 1980s.

I recently heard a sort of "unplugged" Men At Work collection (was being played before the opening act came on), with some oldies, but also some music I didn't recognize. I didn't ask at the venue what it was and have never been able to figure it out from looking at their volumes of work. I'm open if this is ringing a bell for Men At Work fans.

I recall reading that the Men at Work lead signer Colin Hay did a CD along those lines, so that may be what you heard.

I recall liking their follow-up Cargo quite a bit, but it may have just been because I was young and stupid. I haven't heard that tape (which was the format I had it on) in probably over 25 years. I do recall that I only heard one of their albums since (did they have more than 3), and that one did nothing for me.

ETA - Thanks for Spotify, I just relistened to Cargo. Surprisingly, I found it to be still pretty good.

I did a little research and I think the disc I'm looking for is Man At Work by Colin Hay.

I just saw Colin Hay Sunday night and even his bumper music before he came on was unplugged Men At Work! ha. Must have been his Man At Work album playing. He said a few lovely words about Greg Ham and his contributions to the band. And let me say, if Colin Hay comes to your town, go see him. HE was fantastic. Just him and his guitars up there. His voice is still amazing AND he tells great stories. He just seemed very sincere, and so is his music. lovely night it was.

And EQ I LOVE spotify! Isn't it awesome?
