Wee, if I can't make it to Europe for the Copeland/Clarke shows and no Police, at least I can have some 80's fun w/ these fellows. They were in here over in Covington KY back in Feb. 2007, what a great show! They all sounded great, Jon was in 'full drone'. They did have a different drummer, but he did a nice job.
Can't wait! I would have 'killed' to go this show in 1985....!

AM lamely replying to my my own OT. The Psychedelic Furs rocked the house on Saturday in Cincinnati! Richerd was in full beautiful poetic voice-and still has a cheeky stage presence. Tim his enigmatic self behind those dark shades. The room was full, and we were dancin' fools!
If this tour comes near to any of y'all, take a chance, these Guys are still "all there" on stage and have kept their chops.

I was lucky and fortunate and caught the show around '85. It was either '84 or '85. I was around 5th row, Greek Theater Los Angeles. Still remember it. Fanatstic! Still remember Richard moving around the stage.
I was a HUGE Furs fan at the time. I played thier cassettes over and over and over.
It was around the same time I saw Sting solo, Blue Turtle tour, also at the Greek.
Have we got touchdown

@Bets, I was just about to say!

Thanks for the report, falcon, and great memory, Throb. I was hoping to get an interview with one of the Furs for this tour, but the timing and geography didn't work out. If I ever manage to pull it off, I'll post a link here to share.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Not lame at all - thank you! You prompted me to find UK dates, and lo and behold they're playing a festival near me in July.

Wow, an interview. THAT would be a cool link.
Of all things, Tim Butler now lives somewhere in KY w/ his wife (I think in the Cinci-ish area)-and only heard that because the two fellows standing right in front of Brian & i were with Tim's stepdaughters during the opening act, had told me this during the set up intermission. Peter Frampton, Jorman Karkonen, Jerry Garcia-what is it about settling around these parts, huh? So, KY has a PF connection-oh right, along w/ Adrian Belew.

I believe Tim Butler actually lives in Liberty, Kentucky (Casey County) which is about an hour south of Lexington, just north of Somerset. There was a great article in the Lexington Herald-Leader awhile back about Tim and how he met his wife and moved to her town. He seems to be quite happy living there.

Probably not the articles Mike above is referring to, but a couple of related fanboy sightings of Tim Butler in Liberty, KY:

I'm both delighted and surprised to report that the Furs were really, really good. I didn't really know what to expect and expected to not expect all that much, but the band was incredibly solid, and Richard Butler commits to every word he's singing, yet still manages to retain a bit of modesty within all the gestures and posing. In between songs he kept on bouncing: I wanted to bottle him up!

If anyone ever gets the opportunity, the ArtsQuest venue in Bethlehem, PA, also turns out to be really good: intimate but not tight; good, clear sound, but no earplugs needed; killer industrial backdrop. Skip the mixed drinks, though: them thar be well water.

Great company, great space, great performance = great night.

Am so glad you went to PF Kellie and that ya'll had an enjoyable show. Whta you said especially about Richard really sums it up well. He is so good and so charismatic, but really also does radiate humility/modesty too. AND great dancin' to those tunes, don't forget the dancing! This one of the 80's bands I always enjoyed, but somehow lost touch of until they came thru this area/OH-NKY 4 or 5 years ago-so nice to be have been turned back on again. Good music, lovely lyrics.

I'll be glad when my schedule slows down enough that I can go see some shows. The Furs have had some great songs, the first one that really grabbed me was The Ghost In You; House is another one that really shakes me. Great group.
