Stage show? What'll it be like?

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 12 Mar 2007 01:43

Hey folks, what do you think they'll do? Bare-bones, stage devoid of drama...

Or laser beams, streamers, and cool effects? Any particular "look" or color scheme?

Plain stage, or fun shape with a runway?

Oh, I hope it's a back to basics show. No back-up singers, brass section, keyboard players. Just The Police as we know them and came to love them. Update the show technologically, though. I think they know they don't need lasers or special stuff to keep the crowd with them.
I just want to see the boys doing what they do best!!!!
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

I second everything samburusunset just said: I'm a big fan of the back-to-basics method of three men and their music.

Lights will be necessary of course (darkness and all), but I personally prefer not to have anything distract from the genius that is The Police. The Three have plenty of natural stage presence to keep their audience focused.

I'd even kill for a few acoustic songs.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Mirrorball suits: an absolute must. They should arrive in a spaceship that doesn't land, but hovers overhead in pseudo-sinister fashion as they are beamed onto the stage. They won't actually touch their instruments, but will merely wave their hands over light being emitted from them that will cause them to appear to play. You see, no sound will technically come from the stage that evening, as their modified instruments will be transmitting signals to our neural receptors to emulate the effect of live music. This frees up the Police to merely dance energetically for 2 hours. At which point they will be beamed back up and whisked away...

Or they could just play some songs or something....

Bearing in mind the size of venue they're playing I'm hoping for f*ck-off massive video screens.

I think I could live without the Mad-Max-does-primary-colours Synchro outfits personally though ;)

(still can't speak)

Ohhhh man. Leave it to you to sum it up, Hannagirl.

What do the Foos do, these days? I haven't seen 'em in a couple of years, but every time I have it's been more stripped down than some performances...

Now I've got a Mad Max-Synch II-mirrorball suited mash-up in my head, and somehow I picture it all on roller skates. Very disturbing.

One other element that I would love to see at the concert: DRUM SOLO.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Damn straight.

Though vocals by the drummer would be welcome as well...

Careful though, we don't want Stewart to spontaneously combust ala Spinal Tap
