I dunno, I kinda see Stewart more as Captain Kirk - loud, bold, arrogant, unafraid to speak his mind and Go Boldly Where No Man Has Gone Before.

Sting totally has the moody/unemotional/brainy/alien-Spock vibe for me.

The amusing thing is (as a cranky old fandom dinosaur) the Kirk vs. Spock wars truly do rival the Sting vs. Stewart wars.

Andy, however, would be a perfect McCoy.

Honestly, I am not that familiar with the Star Trek characters, but
I can only see Sting playing an instrument like that.

I'm more familiar with the personalities of Next Generation than the original series.

Sting would be Picard: intellectual, authoritative, and balding.

Andy would definitely be Geordi: witty and a technical genius.

Stewart is harder to place, but maybe Riker? Tall, confident, has a temper but can be diplomatic when the situation calls for it, and much admired by the ladies.

Ok, resistance has been futile, gotta' weigh in.
I see Stewart closer to McCoy, original 60's and especially most recent, the latetest movie incarnation. Smart, passionate, intuitive, no holds barred in speaking his mind to-and raising the hackles of-the moody cerebral party. AND don't forget: Southerner origin. McCoy from Lexington KY, Stewart from Alexandria VIRGINIA. And dad from Alabama, so 2 generations there, not to mention all the time Ian spent running his bands thru southeastern US college nightspots in the late 70's/early 80's. I rest my case. Oh right, this 'new' McCoy in the movie is also very tall.
