Time keeping for 2007-2008 tour: Jeff?

I know there were some issues in the past regarding Stewarts tendency to speed up things. Anyone knows how the band deal with this issue during the 2007-2008 tour? We all know they had in-ear monitoring, but were they all using click track?
If so, which "sound" is prefered by Stewart for the click track (cow bell, sticks, etc.)? or did he only use the delay as a time keeper device?
Just wondering and wandering.

What an excellent question. I hadn't thought about it before, but you have a great point. Especially since there was video projections that the music needed to be in time with. Personally, I don't mind playing to a click in a recording studio, but to play to it in a live performance is kind of a drag.

Thank you. I once heard someone put "Sting's click track metronome" somewhere in the web but I could never found the actual link.
I am asking because watching Certifiable you can always hear Sting going "uno, dos, tres, cuatro" before almost every song. (and also because I am a terrible time keeper myself!).

The 2007-2008 tour employed click tracks on certain numbers. We used a Kurzweil R2500 factory click as well as sequenced hihat patterns programmed by Stewart during rehearsals. The hihat patterns were only fed into Stewart's monitor mix with everyone receiving the click track. The Kurzweil click has a clave type of timbre.

In the studio we have alternated between a Gigastudio cross-stick sound as well the Kurzweil click. Most scoring stages use the Urie click.

I think there was a Buffalo one and one from like Japan. Its been awhile since I found it hard to listen to it with the clicks. Maybe Deitmar recalls

I guess most hi hat paterns are for pieces like Wrapped or King of Pain for the backing tracks.Or probably to the ones using delay (that beautiful ping-pong!) on the hi hat, such as Every little thing and Don't stand.

To clarify, the hi hat patterns were included with the click for any song being performed that was locked to a click. It was never sent out to the house (audience) mix. A click can be very strict, rigid and mechanical sounding. The hi hat pattern is a more friendly accompaniment to perform with. Consider it like having a rhythm section or second drummer.

A Urie Click is a brand name. It can be a stand alone box with outputs to a mixing board or a patented sound that is included in some sequencing programs. Below are some references to check out.

Japan February 14th is recorded from the inner ear monitor, presumably with a scanner. Some say its an assisted listening device, but I don't believe that would have the click track if true...
This recording has the click track right up front....
