OT: Nutters in Path of Tornadoes!

I'm ok here. There were 2 tornados reported north of me. Hail fell here this morning. We've had 2 rounds of strong thunderstorms. The tornado watch has expired for my locale but we're currently under a wind advisory for a few more hours because the wind gusts are so strong. I'm really lucky to have not been in the path of a tornado. I had my bike helmet next to me all day in case the tornado sirens had gone off. Such devastation in Southern Indiana. An entire town has been leveled. So sad.

Things are calming down here now. I'll actually get some sleep tonight for a change. No damage near me, but Huntsville had several tornadoes. What a day.

Where is Divemistress??? Hello?

I haven't thought about the bike helmet. I will just keep one into my interior room (the downstairs bathroom, no tub).

It's going to be a long "summer"...

Bike helmet is genius, Indy!

I am glad everyone is safe. I hope the rest of spring storm season is less eventful ...

Sorry, folks! I was blabbing so much over on FB that I clean forgot to come here & post that we escaped the worst this time....tho at one point our house was directly in the path of what local news said was a confirmed funnel. I later found out it was a funnel that didn't quite touch down, so our number wasn't up the other day...I could've sworn I heard the unmistakable tornado sound at one point tho I was so freaked out it could've just been the insane hail or something.

That said, I'm exhausted. There's really nothing on the local news right now but devastation - two days before this last round an F2 hit about an hour east of here and killed a bunch of people. It's horrible and sad, but honestly I'm really trying not to look at lots of pictures of the damage b/c we have to get through four more months of frequent warnings - it can be as often as every other day or so in the springtime. I already know what these horrible storms can do and there's zip I can do about it, other than move out of here, so just trying to get my head together to sort of roll with it for another little while.

I gotta give a shoutout to the Nutters - at one point I was in my safe interior room, with only half a phone bar so I couldn't update any apps, and the signal on our TV went out - had no idea where exactly the storm was till I started getting texts from folks here with the info. It truly rocked.

Glad to hear others escaped the worst of it as well. Appreciate your thoughts and wellwishes. DD

Glad to hear all the Nutters are OK.
Heard about the town that was leveled. How horrible. It's just astounding what nature can do.

Well, all was "blowed about" in Cincinnati proper, but yeah, this little town upriver, Moscow OH, got slammed. 1 death, terrible, but amazing only 1 after seeing pics. I ran a couple bags of heavy duty cleanup gear on Saturday aftn., one of the churches in Pt. Pleasant OH (abt. 1 mi or so from the town hit) was serving free hot meals to victims and first responders, plus collecting USABLE donations-its amazing what junk people will 'donate'-so they had blankets, bottled water, canned food, boxed cereal, bags of citrus fruit, etc..... a real nice amount. So, now the clean up for these folks, and THEN how do you pick up and get on w/ it......People do, but its one thing to help out and then go home-and then another when it IS your home. Oh, even a local group to help w/ pets affected, a good showing in this area so far.
There is a town south and east of here, West Liberty KY, that got direct hit, like those 2 towns in IN, and I think 20 deaths. Always, once the immediate effort dies down, there are the longer term needs. I have to think that is also the case in Japan and New Zealand, after those terrible earthquakes last Spring. I mean, a year later, and how are those folks doing? Right?
Thanks for all the checking in-glad to hear you were ok, Indygirl!
