Stewart I never really got a chance to post a message on here to say how sorry I was to hear your brother Ian passed away last year.

I too have gone though too many losses in the year 2005. One night in Oct...my dad and I were watching TV.......Most Haunted of all the TV shows......when he had a seizure and died in the chair next to where I was sitting on the couch. Day or 2 later my mom and I get word that my aunt died too. Then 2 week later I get word that a close friend of ours died. Then a month later my grandfather dies.

You can see the year of 2005 was total hell for me and my mom.

I just want to say.....your brother isn't alone up there.......he's got my father and grandfather to keep him company and be friends. They are probably telling each other their war stories as my father also served in the Vietnam War.

Yeah I know.....the night my father died was really hard......I just remember not wanting to sleep that night.....not wanting to close my eyes.....more or less of me saying......I feel like i'm in a nightmare and I can't wake up.......someone please wake me up from this nightmare and my dad will be alive. I remeber at times hearing music in the house.....his type of music......I thought I was hearing things in the midst of not sleeping. I remember the next day like it was today......waking up at God knows what time and having to call all of my coworkers saying your boss just died.....my dad died last night.....not eatting.

HAHA however after my best friend got fired where I work and ditched me as a friend I went back smoking lol.

My father served in the Vietnam war like Ian did but in the Navy.

I was very sorry when I heard that too. Unfortunately I lost my Dad on January 4th of this year, after a year long battle with cancer. It is extremely difficult as we were very close. He loved the Police and his favorite song was Roxanne - he'd sing it all the time, and he couldn't carry a note to save himself, which made his rendition particularly interesting.
He loved it so much, he actually wanted that to be the song we danced to at my wedding - I said, are you nuts? It's a song about a hooker!!!! He thought about that and laughed, but I think he secretly wished it could have been - he would have been able to get his tango on, plus he was such a ham, I'm sure he would have been singing along then too.

Man, it sure has been a bad year for parent-child relationships. Count me in as well. My sympathies to all.

Well I have yet another wake and funeral to go to this week. My cousin who was 83 years old just died yesterday so I'm having to go to another wake tomorrow and a funeral on Monday.

I lost my mom last year in January. I too was deeply saddened by news about Ian. He will be dearly missed. He was such a major contribution to the music world and a wonderful person, father and friend to many. All I know is my heart goes out to Stewart and Miles and the family and friends and my heart goes out to everyone else who has lost a loved one recently or past.

I echo your sentiments Shannon. Heidi your story sounds remarkably like a friend of mine who lost his mother, father, and brother all in the same year. I can't imagine how someone might go on in the face of all that. That we somehow manage to is truly a testament to the dominance of human will.

As for myself, i lost my grandmother last year. She was the lynchpin of our family, i feel we are all so fragmented now. But i know she is in a better place. She was in a great deal of pain here and i'm glad she had the strength and wisdom left to know when to let go.

that means alot chris. I got a tatoo for my mom, her favorite flower. I got a sunflower with her name on it and my Dads name above it and I am having a Marlin put above his name. As he loved to deep sea fish. I lost him to Cancer when I was 6, my mom was never the same after he passed and after 30 years to the day he was diagosed, she met her fate not so gracefully, but painfully and tragically. Not the easiest time right now.

Well it was very touch to go on. The night he died he was acting sort of normal.....I asked him to watch Most Haunted cause both he and I are facinated with ghosts. He went into the other room where my mom was watching TV.....looked out the french door windows and said something about the rain.....turned around.....said I love you to my mom.....went back in and sat down. I noticed he was falling asleep a lot that night and it was about 9:45 before the show was over that something told me to look over at your father. I did....and he wasn't acting right.....his eyes were rolling around and his head shaking side to side......I freaked out and screamed to get my mom in the room....the seizure stopped and his mouth opened and head went to the chair arm. I don't want to ramble on but that day was the worst day ever.

That morning I had fallen off the concrete front steps and bashed my knees into the driveway......then had an argument with a friend that night before the show.....then my dad died.

It was like that saying.....all shit has hit the fan.

I know my dad is in a better place but he haunts the house from time to time.......his favorite thing is unplugging the coffee maker. One morning my mom was getting something out of the oven.....she leaned down but sensed something was going on above her head.......our electric pepper mill his sister gave us for christmas got thrown in mid air and hit the refrigerator....putting a dent in the refrig.

I seem to be doing good......I took up smoking a few months after my dad and grandfather died and my best friend ditched me as a friend.

Hey the one cool thing is......I get to see The Police in concert.........I keep active to keep myself sane!!!
