some ideas about the forum, what do you think?

Hey Gio,
Yes, I agree that it would be good to shake things up a little.
Sub-forums for FAQS, OT stuff, Musicians, STEWART/Police, etc would be good.
A chat room would be nice as well.
Perhaps if you decide to go ahead with this you can ask us for specific
suggestions for the sub-forums and narrow down to the most popular ones.
Thanks for asking and keep up the good work!

poking with the stick!!! hahha even better.
at this point its beyond classic its pretty much archetypical pack behavior!!!

I've seen this so many times. I love J cause she fights back at you guys instead of just letting the pack run rampant!!
she's awesome!

Clearly you have no intention of either reading or comprehending my post.

And since you seem to be bound and determined to devolve into petty insults, I believe the word you meant to use was "archetypal".

You're welcome.
These attacks aren't just against J, they're against all of us that are new.
Sorry you feel that anyone is being attacked dneckels and certainly because you are new. I joined this forum after tourzilla and have never met another nutter. However, I've only experienced welcome and kindness on this site even if not everyone agrees with everything I have to say. Wouldn't it be boring if we all agreed all of the time? I have made some wonderful and hopefully life long friends here. It's fun here. Why are there so many fights all of a sudden?

You really should read Schmaffy's post.

Anyway, on this thread, Gio was asking everyone's opinions on potential changes to the site. This is the great thing about this site. Everyone's opinion counts and is listened to. My opinion is that we should get back to Gios thread and see what he has planned for us and stop with punch-ups.

OMG!!!

I haven't been here for a bit, but prompted by someone's post on another forum.....

What happened to the happy place I last visited....

I bet Gio wishes he hadn't posted the thread now!!

I'm not really sure I want to look at any other threads!!

I always thought when you first joined a forum you sat back and saw how the land lies... Worked out who the major posters were... Who the annoying ones were and the jokers...

Obviously I got that bit wrong.....

I think I'll just log back off and come back another day when 'things' are nicer!

Not listening to what other people are saying and applying your own interpretation is generally considered rude, Neckels.

For the record, you're the one who claims we're all oppressing you and that all the women forumers are "jealous" of your girlfriend, there. So my comments are directed as much at you as they are at JB.

Jealous of what, I'd like to know. Having enough time on our hands to post fantasies on an Internet forum night and day? Many of us here have what you might call "a life". Jobs, kids, responsibilities. If I were jealous of folks who by the looks of things may not have a family, a fulfilling career, or other interests, I'd look into getting to a good therapist myself, and fast.

Good looks? You haven't met any of us, as far as I know, and I think you'd change your tune significantly if you had.

Attention from Stewart? After he gave how many of us here free front row tickets to a concert selling for thousands of dollars - has gotten many of us into events not open to the public - has shared details of his private life with many here?

I'd laugh if it wasn't just so sad that you think this.

Holy cow Gio, did you think this thread was going to erupt in a huge flame war like this?

This is bringing folks out of hibernation and retirement! The last time I remember such an explosion was Tourzilla or FlagGate.

What are the chances we get this thread back to being about constructive ideas for Gio? Just a thought....

FIRE!

It's quite an achievement to join a historically peaceful forum in December and manage to fuck off quite so many people by the start of february. Just sayin'.

and furthermore, the really sad thing is that you could have made some great friends here, if you'd even halfway applied yourself or listened to what people were trying to tell you. But you were so sure that your own interpretation of the social dynamic here was correct, that you didn't even give things a chance.

So, go. If that's what makes you happy. But don't waste your time thinking that anyone here will sit around handwringing about 'driving you off' - there are others who have been new here within the last couple of years who are now by their own account satisfied members of the community. You may want to spend some energy instead thinking of how you can do things a little differently the next time you're inspired to join a pre-existing community.

I'm with Schmaffy.

Please stop fighting. People who don't read or understand, you best ignore.

Subforums seem to be a good idea, but keep the view-new-posts-button.

Have another folder called "Grandelinquent Grove" for all Off Topic threads.

the nature of the posting on here has changed... turned into more of a chatroom vibe. which is fine, but does my head in 'cos i come here every day to have a look so now the majority of the posts and threads i'm not going to want to read (pictures of pants etc)...
i understand that no-one is forcing me to read these etc etc etc.. but in a way, you kinda are; cos this is a shared space which lots of people use.

civility, comity and consideration are important attributes. Humility in wisdom, acceptance of change and doubt.
Be Nice Or Leave, etfuckingcetera.

what there probably isn't room for is attention-seekers, aggressive-passive wankery, twat-sticks or those who insist that the world is coming to an end etc etc .

Exactly.

Dive and Schmaffy have said everything I've been thinking, and much more politely than I would have said it.
