some ideas about the forum, what do you think?

Hey gang, are you ok? I'm feeling good, there's some snow here in Milano, Italy, and I'm eating a pizza (what else???); there's a can of beer on one side, a wonderful cake waiting to be eaten on the other side...and I'm checking what's happening around here, on one of the best places of the net (for most of us at least...I guess).
As usual, when I want to change something, I need your suggestions, advices, thoughts and whatever may come to your mind.
Now, I'm thinking something (by the way, everytime I say to Eugenio that I have an idea, he's ready to kill me, 'cause HE is the one who then got to turn my ideas into a reality, I'm just the idea-maker, I'm just 'the one' who think, I have the visions...ok...now you know why he wants to kill me). He has great ideas as well!
But...every now and then I have some good ideas (maybe).
What do you think if we 'share' the forum with more subjects, I mean more 'rooms'? I've seen it in so many other forums, so that we can have a room just for the news, a room for 'concerts reviews', a room for 'collectibles and records', a room for 'personal thoughts', and so on. Now we have the POLICE tickets room, that I can turn into something else, for example; we have the LINKS room...well, I don't feel like we need too many rooms, just a few.
Which rooms would you like to see, if you do agree of course; if most of you don't want it, that's fine, I won't change anything.
By the way, I haven't said that to Eugenio yet...I don't really know IF we can do it (I guess you know what I mean...right?), but your ideas will surely help.

(and shhhh...don't say it too loud...if Eugenio knows that I'm thinking about it... he will kill me...he's too busy these days to check here....eheheh, c'mon don't be cruel to me...just say your words....OR I WILL BE CRUEL TO YOU!)

Ciao Gio, glad to hear you are well (and eating very well - pizza and cake sounds goooood).

That good food is good for your brain - I like your idea. For me (other forum people will have other ideas) a 'news' room would be great: this is because I don't come here as often as I should (so maybe it's a bad idea and I should be more organised?). I'm sure a 'collectibles' room would be helpful to lots of people. Maybe a 'gear/equipment' room? Could we have a room for every time Conroy 'coughs'? Haha!

My suggestion is to let the Krypton Forum be everything that isn't suggested for a separate 'room'. I think an 'Off Topic' room would be a bad idea, because we can never stay 'On Topic'.

Also - and Eugenio will really want to kill someone for this idea - would it be possible for the person who starts a discussion/topic in one 'room' to move it to a different 'room'? On other websites there is either a team of moderators who do that (which is not how this community works), or there's lots of argument about which 'room' a discussion should be in - very boring, and makes people cross.

Im feeling good, Gio looking forward to warmer weather...though this is the strangest winter we have ever had in Chicago! We have only had snow one time so far this winter and yesterday it was 58 degrees out! (14.5 C). It has been on average 45 degrees most days this winter. That is very warm for us. Kind of makes you wonder about this global warming thing....

Anyways, I think it is a good idea about different rooms. Stewart attracts alot of different people who like him and follow him for a lot of different reasons. Some people like him for his music with The Police, some people like him for his musical adventures after The Police, some people like him for the way he looks, some people like to share ideas on the webpage about other things that are OT. Most people fit into probably more than one category. And while I think all of the above are cool, I recognize that not everyone may want to read what interests me and what I like about Stewart.

So, by making different rooms we can browse them all, or just the ones that interest us. I think that is a good idea...but it sounds like a lot of work! You better clear it with Eugenio first

If you decide to go with the various rooms which I kinda like, I'd love to have a button at the top of the board index that shows all the new posts in all the forums on the board from the past 24 hours when you click on it because I'm afraid I'll miss a nugget of news or a good kerfuffle if it gets too compartmentalized around here.

I'm going to sound off before reading other's thoughts, so mine are totally off the top of my head. Please note I've run/installed a number of phpbb forums before so I am familiar with how things can be formatted and tweaked, and good/bad ways they can be utilized.

Before anything else, I would love, love, love to see an official forum FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) posted clearly at the top of the forum. I know myself and some other forum members would be happy to contribute to it. Just with links to historic/important threads and general forum netiquette, so that it's easy for new members to get a grip on some of our traditions, etiquette and "slang" language.

I think a "Newbie/Welcome" sub-forum would be outstanding, for new members to introduce themselves and get their feet wet. A lot of forums have this and it can be great for getting new folks welcomed in to an environment.

I'm all for an official "Off Topic Forum" as well. Honestly some people just come here - sometimes I just come here - for Stewart/Police-related stuff. And when every other thread is off-topic, it can be hard to find the important STEWART stuff. If a thread that started on-topic veers too far off-topic, it can be moved.

I wouldn't, however, create TOO many separate sub-forums because then things can become dead or too compartmentalized. It's a delicate balance, but I do really believe we could use an on/off-topic separation at this point. And that's not to put down off-topic conversation at all as often it can be the liveliest! But sometimes too much off-topic posting on a main forum can turn away folks who really just are interested in STEWART and STEWART-specific content.

Hi Gio,
I am glad you have suggested this, as I'm getting increasingly bored and frustrated with seeing more and more non-related subjects being posted on the main Krypton Forum page, instead of Stewart related content. There has been an increased amount of non-Stewart related posts flooding the main page quite recently, which also pushes a lot of Stewart news and genuine related topics further down the list, which not so regular visitors may not be able to see. It would be nice to see non-related Stewart posts (OT) and other artist links to YouTube posts away from this main page and posted in a separate category folder. Other than that, the site is very informative with regards to Stewart's latest activities and I personally visit regularly to see what the man is up to.

I would also like to suggest a Porn category folder for certain individuals, who like to post regular suggestive comments and sexual references. Which I personally don't think is entirely appropriate on this main Forum. Craig
