Perhaps a Proper Introduction?

No one is saying being a father or older person means you can't be sexually desirable. Far be it (or at least, I sure as hell hope so.)

But some people ARE saying that blatantly, explicitly graphic, sexual talk on a public official forum that goes beyond fun innuendo and fannish drooling doesn't sit well with some folks here. Even those folks who have no problem being bawdy and irreverent, within a certain degree of decorum.

Re: knitting: clearly no offense was intended, and none has been taken. I'd be glad to offer up some E-Z beginner patterns for those interested and weigh in remotely on how to do the thornier parts (think redneck had offered up some comments in another thread but I can't find 'em.) There are a few tricks to it - always knit a swatch; wash the yarn before you knit with it if you can; etc.

Maybe we should bump these old threads more often. Just a reminder: You can find old stuff from pre-crash days by going to Google and typing

(tip o the keyboard, again, to DM for this trick.)

Thanks for articulating that, sockii. It's not an age thing; it's the father/husband thing. I met Stewart every so briefly in Dallas. But more importantly, from where I sat during the Gamelan D'Drum concert, I ha ppened to have a clear view of Stewart and Fiona (his wife) as they watched the concert together. (I wasn't being a creeper; I just enjoyed glancing over in their direction every now and then to catch Stewart's reaction to the performance of his fabulous music.) So when someone speaks of Stewart as a husband, I have very concrete understanding of it by way of the mental image I hold of he and his wife at that concert.
Secondly, I had the great pleasure of meeting Jordan Copeland, Stewart's son in his twenties, when his band played Toronto. We talked a fair bit, and I have to say a nicer, more gracious guy would be hard to find. In fact, I complimented Stewart here for having raised such a fine young man. So, the Stewart as father thing is pretty real to me, too.
Nonetheless, these are MY experiences from which I draw MY idea of what crosses the line. It is not fair to judge someone based on criteria drawn from experiences they have not shared. If we all keep that rule of thumb in mind in this pluristic place we like to Copelandia, I think there would be a lot less hurt feelings and a lot less drama. (If we want the fun of drama without any new pain, we should just keep digging up those old threads. We got a ton of 'em.)
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.

Oh my goodness, how did I not know that? (About finding the pre-crash threads?) THANK YOU! I just spent a good coffeebreak reliving the MADNESS!!! of some old kerfluffles. Good times (well, okay, maybe not good, just good for popcorn-munching in retrospect).

Agreed- Sockii and (honestly) everyone else here are very cool people. The internet and how people can misconstrue or read too far into things provides alot of entertainment, no?

Sign me up for the housecleaning. Still haven't got all the Xmas stuff put away yet. Sigh.

For the money, you can't beat a Dyson. We have some absurd number of pets and it does a great job on dust as well. They cost like the earth but worth every penny and they last *years*.

On the posts: STEWART reads more than you think. Bear in mind there's a good chance he'll know exactly who you are if you meet (almost typed 'meat' ;)) him in person after hanging out here a lot. I feel sure several newbies have already made an impression.

It's just that he trusts us to act like adults, pretty much. He calls up Gio if there's something he wants said and doesn't have time to fool with it. Gio's been a little tied up recording an album of late, however (and is also one of the coolest cats ever and a rock star in his own right. Just a bit more background.)

For the official record- you are so wrong! This guy we all love, loves us back- enough to still be staying in touch and making quirky little videos- just. for. us.. The dude let me (and other members) play his drums! He invites us along on his many musical journeys, always taking time to recognize his fans no matter where or what he's doing. While he does travel alot, the chances of you meeting him in person are greater than you realize. And make no mistake- he reads, and I'd wager you've stood out enough for him to know who you are...

Indeed. Most of us who have been around for a while will tell you - without needing to go in to specific detail - that STEWART (and associates) very much do read what goes on here. So it's yet another reason many recommend not posting something you're not willing to say directly to the Maestro's face. 'Nuff said.

Yeah I never figured The Police would reunite and tour, and I would get to see them. NEVER. I mean NEVER!!!
I also never thought I could get into a soundcheck, let alone MEET them, let alone play music with them! I never thought he'd do something in Dallas, but he did. I never thought he'd be back to posting on his forum like the old days, and when I joined so long ago I certainly never thought to see him pay so much attention to us in this little forum- didn't even think he'd be a part of it. You never know what he has up his sleeves!

Enjoy your dreams though.
