I watched it too. and it was cool to see his house and stuff! but no way those drums were worth 15oo and then went up to 3500 because the maestro touched them with his pen...

But alot of you kow more about drums than I...and do you think they were really earth, wind and fires drums?

My kids like this show and we watch it quite a bit ( I dont like it....I like antiques roadshow), but one thing I noticed is NOONE ever loses money...they bid on a crappy locker full o junk and then always find something amazing in the back.....(Look Maw, the Hope Diamond is back here in a box!) I think the show is a set up and a cheap rip off of Pawn Stars....which isn't good either.

OK, I honestly watch tv maybe once a week....This sounds like Im some TV king.....but its not true, I got better things to do...like lurk on this site and bid on useless Police items on ebay...Oh my exciting life...

Actually, sometimes they do lose money. I remember one episode where Dave bid a lot thinking this one bicycle was going to be worth thousands and it ended up being a worthless "Frankenstien" (ie, pieced-together) bike. Nothing else was of value in the unit either. And Barry often finds something valuable after spending $500-1,000 on a unit but then decides to keep it instead of selling it.

What bugs me about the show (besides of course like every "reality" tv show, there's going to be some staging involved) is that they do often inflate the realistic resale value of what they find. Like saying a box of used paperbacks is worth $50 when I know from too much experience you can barely give them away for 50 cents at most fleamarkets and thrift stores. Plus I've read the show's given a lot of amateurs a skewed view of what storage auctions are like and what they can expect to find - most of the time it IS going to be junk, yet now there are crowds showing up everywhere bidding them up to way over value just on the hunt of something valuable.

Anyway...ahem...yes I may be a bit addicted to the show even if it's unrealistic because it is fascinating some of the stuff they pull out of those units sometimes! I think my favorite episode involved Barry and the rose-colored glasses for chickens...

Thanks for that link -- the bonus scene was at least as good as the bits that were broadcast. Makes you wonder what other good stuff didn't make the final cut.

Larnould: You can download the entire show from the Sendspace link I posted above, if you can't get the A&E website to work. It's a big file - about 200 MB - but should work if you give it some time.

Enjoying these other links - thanks y'all! It's about time STEWART hit the TV circuit again. (Maybe it's time to dust off those old "Just the Two of Us" vids...)
