Hey redneckpride!

Glad to see you are here constantly. Can you help us with some Southern Rock/Western/Easy Rock tunes that you dig?

Thanks!

Don't go back to Rockville is my favorite REM song and always has been. Nice to see it on your list. I bought that cassette when it first came out and remember playing Rockville over and over....Still a great song....

I have always been partial to bluegrass too....the fast stuff....orange blossom special, Rocky Top, Dueling Banjo's, Foggy mountain breakdown.....anyone out there know what Im talking about?

and the darling brothers on the Andy Griffith show....'member them?

Woo Doggie!

What the hell?! Anybody picking on Hank Williams, or other Southern-fried rock and roll, is gonna have me to take on. Or do you not get that rock and roll was actually invented here?

(rolls up sleeves)

p.s. what the Sam Hill is wrong with hanging out on SC.net a lot? I'd call that a person with good taste, myself...

Have you heard Hayseed Dixie? They do bluegrass covers of metal bands, AC/DC, KISS, Motorhead, etc, and some originals as well as classics like Will The Circle Be Unbroken.

There is also a band called Those Darlins, named after the Andy Griffith musicians, whose first album is pretty twangy, although they seem to be headed in a more pop direction now.

Those Darlins are from Nashville, and I've had the good fortune to have seen them live more than once. They, um...KICK ASS. And I'm not just sayin' this due to Snarlin' Jesse Darlin's gold lame bodysuit.

Anyone here heard of Third Man Records? They've been here a while but have attracted quite a following. yes, of course they do White Stripes releases, but they're also breaking a lot of great new local bands. I've been buying boatloads of stuff at their local store and mailing it to fans all over the place (from their message board).

I know MariaH will weigh in on this if she stops by...a lot happening in Atlanta at the moment as well.
