Sting closes the door

Sting closes the door

Postby Johnny O on 27 Nov 2011 16:01

So Sting closed the door on any future Police activity... While I will be forever grateful for the Tour, for the life of me I can't see Sting's apparent distain for playing music with Andy and Stewart. I don't get it. Never will I suppose.

oh well....... i don't spose the other 2 are particularly bothered.

i'm reminded of an interview when stewie said to gordo something about hirelings.

and gordo saying something about why go out with that girl you went out with in high school? (well, ignore the possibility that she's hotter now than she was and you'd be doing new things with them. it's a good answer but i dont think that argument holds much water.)

i, too, am going to gordo in march... looking forward to it immensly, it's been 10 years or so since i saw him last (solo)

i've heard good things about the shows.... i got the best we could afford... which is why i think my house is nearer the stage than our bleedin' seats are....combine that with the fact that i forgot the sale had started, had no pre-sale codes at all and was in court (working) so couldn't buy tickets til about 4.30pm..... ho-hum.

Gutted the door appears closed and firmly at that.

I've tickets for Gateshead and Manchester pretty close so am really looking forward to it especially as the reviews have been FANTASTIC.

While I don't think there will ever be future studio work and another Police tour is very unlikely, I suspect they will be willing to work together for a charity show of some importance in future years for the right cause.

Unlike many here, I am not bothered by the lack of future work together. It strikes me that it would be Stewart and Andy being doing Sting's songs Sting's way, which there are other musicians for.

I got tickets to see Sting's current tour with some reluctance. Then the date got changed to one I couldn't attend, which didn't cause heartbreak for me.

I frankly would rather see Andy or Stewart peorform than Sting now, although I have seen Sting solo three times through the years and only Stewart twice and Andy once.

But I am happy that people are enjoying Sting's tour.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

I personally am kind of glad if the Police door is closed and over with - let's get back to enjoying Stewart's solo works.

I don't have any interest in seeing Sting rehash the past live, sorry, just not my thing. My live music budget has been well put to use of late on other artists doing fresh and original things, or at least turning their past into something new and original.

Hah, He closed it again, rather definitively, in the Rolling Stone that hit my mailbox yesterday. He must still get asked that question every day. How annoying that must get.

I agree. I really think sometimes the interviewers are just lazy and go for the obvious question. Which leads me to ask, is anyone really surprised that his answer is the same? I think we were lucky he went Certifiable once. Let's leave it at that!
