Thank you Dietmar, for the good news about Andy !
Perhaps this is old news for most , but just in case
for those wondering about Andy like I was...
I came across an article in an Argentian website
( 26 noticias.com) noting that...
Andy was playing twice on the same day on 13Sep
in Buenos Aires "with legendary Brazilian bossa-nova-ist
Roberto Menescal"
It also explained that the complex union between one of the fathers of
the Bossa Nova and Andy began in 2006 when Menescal was recording
a version of Roxanne, when a friend told him that Andy was asking
about him. The two had lunch and got to know each other...
The suggestion came up of doing Bossa Nova arrangments of more
P tunes after Andy really liked a bossa nova version of De Do ..
Roberto Menescal suggested a singer who interpreted lyrics well in English
and arrived at Brazilian singer Cris Dellano. The presentations in Brazil
with Cris in Sao Paul were very well received..
While this was happening, the P reunion tour happened, but both artists
remembered that they would work on another project together after the tour
was over...
After 2 years , they got back together and decided instead of doing a CD, they
would do a DVD, where Andy asked Menescal to show him the places where the
Bossa Nova was born.. This is how Andy got to know Ipanema, the home of Nara
Leao, and the site of the Orfeo Carnival. ( I think: my Spanish is kinda crappy.)
All this plus some presentations in Rio de Janeiro are the content of the DVD called
"United Kingdom of Ipanema" which will enter the commercial market and which
will coincide with presentations which both artists will give in Brazil."
Saw the DVD on Amazon but Sir Paul has me way to skint to be able to get it,
did anyone see it yet I wonder?
Cheers,
Sandy
