So he is going to celebrate his solo career, only?
(He hasn't even composed something new since the Reunion Tour.)

Sting will perform a special concert at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan on October 1st to celebrate the 25th anniversary of solo career on the eve of his 60th birthday. The show, which will feature music from the singer's extensive body of work, will be a benefit concert for the Robin Hood Foundation, an organization that fights poverty in New York City.

Sting's performance will also include a number of major guests, including Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas.

Tickets for the event will not go on sale to the general public, though a small number of tickets have been reserved for members of Sting's fan club.

and the tickets cost an eye-watering, charity-supporting $2,600.

but there is a free bar.

there are some facebook bods who are going and are, rightly, pleased... i'm sure it'll be an amazing night.

What was the last NEW song which Gordo wrote? Or Recorded?
Answers on a postcard.

I thought it may have been Soulcake but that was a cover of a 1963 Peter, Paul, and Mary original, which makes me laugh for some reason.

If it's truly a celebration of his "solo" work, there'd better not fucking be a single Police song played that night.

I'm just sayin'...

I'm betting that at least 50% of the songs played will be Police songs. After all, the audience will be expecting him to play at least a couple of GOOD songs.

I couldn't say it any better than either of y'all!! "Stingko" indeed, the whole thing smells......
Wish I could be less anti in my reaction to Mr. Sting, but he's had such an unrelentingly churlish attitude about the Police-who gave him his 'solo career'.

Well part of me would like to go but I'm not a Stink.com member so I can't get a ticket. I'm not too broken up over it. Maybe it will end up on TV. As for the musical, I'm not sure that's my cup of tea but at least he's doing something new.
yo!!
