Oh man, I missed seeing The Point! Brian (boyfriend) loved the piece that was played and wished that more of this would make out in public - definately fresher than Fields of Gold, yeesh, altho' Brian said they he kinda' wished Stewart has played a little of Dream of Blue Turtles, just to give ol' Sting a buzz.......!

I saw the green section when they were hitting tennis balls into the audience!

Actually, while Conroy had donned some "covert" green, the rest of us dressed pretty neutral given the warnings about keeping attire from being too loud/bright/etc. Amy and I had seats in the VIP area - which ended up meaning the first 2 rows of the balcony, pretty much right over the orchestra. Conroy was able to somehow get right behind us when they filled in the rest of the balcony. Jimmy was right down on the floor fairly close to everything (he got one of the tennis balls, which I somehow ended up with by the end of the night...) BABA, I can't remember where you said you were sitting...

The whole seating thing was quite a production. We each had tickets from different ways, had to stand in line at different places and times, get let in separately, etc. Lots of standing around and waiting with taping not starting until 4:30pm. They do "handpick" the first two rows of the orchestra audience based on the pages/assistants basically eyeing up who is in the general/trivia lines, telling them inside that they were chosen for their "enthusiasm" and getting a big long spiel (along with the VIPs) about how to show enthusiasm (loud even obnoxious laughter, even if you don't really like/get a joke) and how not to (no wooos. We actually had to have a "final woo" in the waiting area to "get it out of our systems").

That said I think - not sure but I think - that little yelp-woo you hear when Stewart is first getting introduced was mine

Overall it was interesting to get to watch a TV taping in progress for the first time, but not something I'd be quick to repeat again any time soon, except or unless for someone like Stewart!

You need to get some drums. You can find vintage Tama Imperialstars on ebay pretty cheaply. The vital part is a 5x14" chrome steel snare drum that you can tune tightly to get that cracking Copeland sound. Good luck.

The Late Show band played Synchronicity II was they went to commercial.

Yep, and that's Stewart you hear on the drums for it when they come in from the break. As soon as they'd finished rolling out the chariot, he just couldn't help but jump right in and jam along with them on it for about a minute or so.

However, I'm glad they played a Stewart Copeland original. Was that "Birds of Prey"?

Yes indeed. Considering Jeff said they only had the time to run it through with Stewart a few times in the pre-show rehearsal, they did a hell of a job with it too, I thought.

And sticks were flying everywhere!

I was also considering a simpler drum (singular) or percussion instrument, such as a djambe, just to practice my hand drumming until I can build up my fatwad of cash a bit more.
