The Police: Big in Japan...really?

The Police: Big in Japan...really?

Hi folks,

this morning while driving to work I listened to one of Sting's concerts from his last Symphonicity tour:
January 13, 2011 Osaka.
When "King of pain" started I thought: "Well, how this must have been like during the Synchronicity tour in Japan?"
Then it struck me: Wait a second, they didn't play Japan on that tour, did they?
And they didn't tour Japan also on the Ghost tour so the last live appearance as a band was indeed on February 7, 1981(!) in Sendai at the end of the Zenyatta tour.

Maybe Stewart or Jeff can shed a little light on this why The Police did not tour JAPAN during their heyday?

Just curious,
Rüdiger

It was probably hard to hold a tour together that long by then.
Although if I remember they always hit Japan just before they went down under...

Maybe Andy's legal troubles in Japan were a concern now that he was famous. Don't forget his chapter about being in the Animals in Japan...

great question by the way
