Sting Box Set coming out in September

El Gordo has announced a Sting box set coming out in September. 3 CDs and a live DVD.

Mostly hits. I can't tell if the CDs have any otherwise unreleased songs since I don't know my later Sting releases. It seems to indicate some unreleased songs but am not sure.

[quote]STING: 25 YEARS The Definitive Box Set Collection

Three CDs Featuring 45 Remastered Tracks Spanning Sting’s Solo Career Plus a DVD Containing Previously Unreleased Live Concert Footage

Accompanied by a Comprehensive Book Featuring Intimate Photos, Complete Lyrics and a Written Introduction by Sting

To Be Released September 27, 2011

Cherrytree/A&M Records/Universal Music Group is pleased to announce 'Sting: 25 Years', the definitive box set collection slated for release on September 27, 2011. Featuring three CDs comprised of 45 remastered tracks personally curated by Sting, a previously unreleased live concert DVD and a comprehensive hardcover book, this retrospective captures for the first time both the highlights and rarities of Sting’s enduring solo career.

This consummate collection contains selections spanning his entire solo catalog, from his 1985 debut album, 'The Dream Of The Blue Turtles', to his latest release, Live in Berlin. Highlights include all of Sting’s top 40 hits as well as Grammy® winners 'Brand New Day', 'The Soul Cages', 'If I Ever Lose My Faith In You', and 'Whenever I Say Your Name' featuring Mary J. Blige (full track listing included below).

Sting: 25 Years was produced by Rob Mathes and Executive Produced by Sting’s longtime manager, Kathryn Schenker. The box set also contains nine songs remixed by Robert Orton and Steve Fitzmaurice exclusively for this collection.

Rough, Raw & Unreleased: Live At Irving Plaza, the previously unreleased live concert DVD, features 10 tracks culled from newly unearthed raw performance footage filmed in New York City on the final night of Sting’s U.S. 'Broken Music' tour in 2005.

The discs are housed in a beautiful, lavish hardcover book containing intimate and rare photos from world renowned photographers, complete lyrics, personal commentary and a newly written introduction by Sting.

joy.

i might disagree with the quote that gordo does "explore new musical territory"... surely he's spent quite a lot of time exploring past musical territory recently.....

although he told ricky gervais (in whose new series he is in; see rickys blog for piccies) that his favourite years were those from 50 - 60, which ties in with the period that he's written no, or very few, new songs.....

irks me a bit that the opportunity was not seized to do this, or similiar, for The Police 3 or 4 years ago....

Malgordo, how many times can you regurgitate the same material? C'mon man. Everyone knows you have more talent than that. Create something new, please. Thank you. That is all.

Unfortunately, the only Police/$#!@&-related items that I would purchase with my hard-earned cash (Craig Bett's book, Police Around the World with Police in the East, Gert's documentary, the US festival, Stewart's derangements, and countless other cool stuff) have been cockblocked by a certain anthropomorphic insect and the hive surrounding him. In fact, I don't know if I'll buy any merchandise when they will be practically giving them away for free during the Border's fire sale like they were doing the first go around back in the spring when they couldn't even give away all the copies they had of the Winter and the Nymphonicites CDs. I wonder if he's perform at the Jiffy Lube Live Amphitheater again to support this.

This gets my vote for Post of the Year Award, even if it's only July.

I second this. Conroy, well done! Do we have an award for this, Gio? A new honor perhaps on the SC.Net! A gold walnut (or acorn, for Conroy) mounted on a nice wooden base?

If I am Sting, perhaps I could waiting 2012 for launching something more esssential... thinking on Sting's phylosophy of life and his beliefs... next year is the moment for making a new "change" in his career... in spite of the fact, when Sting was here in Peru, he said he will return to Peru in 2012 for making something special at Incas Citadelle "Machu Picchu" and that it will taking a year for produced it... ("Machu Picchu" is for thousand of people around the globe the perfect representation of civilization building in harmony with nature and a symbol of balance in environment) ... perhaps Sting is thinking in something more essential and deep on lyrics and music... Alone or with Stewart & Andy without the label of THE POLICE? Let's wait that time could bring a surprise  8)
