Yes! I can't praise them highly enough. In a rare display of state unity, this page was started by Auburn University students to help the city of Tuscaloosa, home of the University of Alabama. The football rivalry between these schools is quite vicious. A few months ago, an Alabama fan poisoned the historic oaks at Toomer's Corner in Auburn, inspiring a Facebook page by disgusted Alabama fans called "Tide for Toomer's". Auburn has now stepped up with a "Toomer's for Tuscaloosa" page. (I'm an Alabama fan, but my respect for Auburn has increased tremendously!)
It has been amazing to see all the local efforts to help people after the storms. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it around here. From what I'm hearing and reading, the majority of relief has been coming not from national organizations, but from people organizing themselves and loading up trucks to get directly to affected areas.
