I wonder if anyone shares my opinion about the Foo Fighters.
They're a good studio band with some outstanding songs.
However I can't enjoy them performing live.
The reason is Dave Grohl's voice - it sounds great on a studio album, but live it's only shouting.
His last name's a hint: the German verb "grölen" is the best way to describe his live singing...

Hey, I got the new cd today, very cool.
At the first listening I have to say that I like most of the songs, but ROPE is definitely a masterpiece!!! Looking forward to see them live again in June here in Milano, the only Italian show.
I'd like to meet them again (when I met them the first time I gave them a copy of the Derangements), and spent some time talking about The Police and Killing Joke; it would be great to do a proper interview about Stewart, and put it on line here.

LOL

Anyway, recently listened to a rather new band called "Me You Us Them" (they're based in Brooklyn, NY).
Wow, their latest album "Post-Data" is the best record since many months I have to confess.
Highly recommended!

I actually am completely the opposite with the Foos.

I like their studio stuff "okay" - usually I feel like they have a few really good songs per album and a lot of filler. But I adore seeing them live for the energy, humor and audience interaction in their shows. To be honest Dave's voice has never been a big plus or minus to me with the band so I'm afraid it's not something I focus on enough to be critical about live vs. recorded. I'm basically there to laugh and headbang to "All My Life".

I haven't had the chance to hear the new album full through yet, so this is just my 2 cents based on past experience.

Yeah, I'll agree with you on this. I haven't seen them live myself but I saw the Wembley show on Palladia and thought the same. I don't like the shouting. I like him when he sings nice though :-)
