ANOTHER JAPANESE EARTHQUAKE!

A 7.4 magnitude earthquake has hit Japan off the coast of Miyagi. They've issued tsunami warnings.
I hope all our Nutters and other Police fans and their families are safe (once again!).

yes another big one ..... around midnight. Tokyo is safe again but tsunami warnings were issued at the same area (as before), now the warnings are cancelled, but some reports of blackouts.

It's difficult to express my opinion in foreign language, especially about this delicate & important theme, so, I'm not gonna speak about the nuclear problems " in general " but only about Japan. And I'm not the representative of Japan, of course......

*Now we know Japan is not the place to construct the nuclear power plants (more than 50 on this small land), we have too many earthquakes and volcanos here.
*The electric power company didn't prepare enough for the natural disaster, they didn't do what they could do beforehand, and they can't even find the solutions yet ! We are very very angry about it.
*They were people who emphasize the necessities of nuclear power and there were people who are just against it but using electricity without any alternative ideas, and the rest(including me) were just letting it work hoping that it is safe as being told.
*But, from now we have to discuss, not just to oppose each other, to find the new way to live safe and secure. Maybe we have to reduce our quality of life, but it would be better than living with fear.
"How can you say that you're not responsible ? "---we've been devouring the electricity, depending too much on the nuclear power plant. It's time to say thanks and good-bye, if it's not possible immediately, I believe we can do it gradually.

Thanks for your insights on this, Uccellina. I, too, was wondering how people were feeling about the situation as all we are hearing over here is the official government line. You all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Down the road, take a look at the Arreva and the Babcock & Wilcox web pages for some info on graphite pellet cooled reactors-stable, smaller, less prone to the sort of mind-numbing event in the wake of disaster that has occurred in these older, water-cooled plants. I have seen the piles of chopped up bird bodies at the base of modern windmills, that is one negative.
All said tho', this whole region of Japan is never out of my thoughts and prayers this past month +. And anytime one of the aftershocks is reported, can't help but ask that folks who have already been affected are given the wherewithal to maintain themselves. Getting through one big event, bad enough, dealing with these other things, the mental and emotional strain..........and being across an ocean, it's not like a hurricane or other disaster here in USA where people (I knew some who did this) can just load up a car or truck and physically take food/water/neccessities right to emergency workers it up ......
If I could send the positive energy the music of Tourzilla generated, put it in a bottle and send it across the Pacific to Japan, just so folks could re-humanize themselves for a moment........

Yes. I think we are all responsible. At least I am. I have bought a lot of Japanese products, which I haven't used to their fullest potential.
We are such a spoiled throw-away society!

We hear about many charity concerts abroad and we receive many messages from all over the world, this is very encouraging. Thanx for " One World " .

The reactors are still in the critical situation, being attacked by the continuous aftershocks of large magnitude. We have many complaints to the government and of course to TEPCO (the electric power company) but now we have to let them concentrate on solving the problem first and urge them to help the ruined area.
As for the necessities, those are being delivered by the government, local self-governing bodies, individuals (yes, by loading up a truck etc...). Damaged area spreads wide but limited to the North-East coast, other areas are almost intact (for example, no building is collapsed at Tokyo) and they are supporting the coast. Now, the mental and emotional stress of the refugees (lost their hometowns ...) are concerned.
Besides, the economical damage is ( and will be ) immense, so the production and consumption is now important to stimulate the market and we are trying to live "as usual". （please buy Japanese products, if it's not a waste, )

Will be trying to do my part to buy Japanese, Uccelina. Altho' for me that means Udon noodles, chukawa fish cakes, and some seaweed products!
I have had my eye on a Sony am/fm portable radio at KMart, and I think that now is The Time to Buy ( I am not a huge consumer as a rule, too cheap! but this is the best cause right now!).
Everyone of y'all over there that I know of from this Forum is thought about by name when I have been hearing of these aftershocks, frightening!
