The orange drumset...

I wish to hell I weren't completely retarded when it comes to things like this.

Now, I can draw a portrait and it'll look just like you. Following the beat, tho? Geez, you'll follow me right off a cliff. ;)

(OK, OK. I can play the bass. A little. And I have a really sweet Rickenbacker 325, plus another 325 from the JL series... Oh, and a cherry-red Gibson ES335...:))
Somebody tell me the secret of how to still play (& not spark petitions) when you live in the burbs in a semi-detached!
Get an electronic kit, like me? Not quite the real thing, it's true, but good enough...and it lets me play away to my heart's content while living in an urban rowhouse!
I've been wanting to buy Stewart's signature snare for a long time, I finally have the funds. Does anyone here have one? I've yet to give one a test drive, so I'm curious. From everything I've read it's an incredible snare. I'd love to get your thoughts.
Cheers,

Yes im a proud owner of one, this is gonna be slightly biast being a massive fan but firstly I would say the snare is definatly worth the money and it definatly does capture the 'copeland' snare sound. Im very pleased with the amount of clarity the snare delivers with playing ghost notes, flams etc it picks up on everything so its very clear cutting. A nice touch is the higher rim makes it a bit easier playing those rim shots. So basically a blinding snare drum.

I'll echo Secret's comments- I have one too, the Wife gave it to me as an xmas gift when they came out! It is awesome, and will cut through ANYTHING! It truly does have that special sound, and for some strange reason is alot cheaper than other drummer's signature models.
I also replaced the top rim with an air ride version so I can quickly switch between it and the Starclassic Maple I have as well. If anything is sustains a teeny bit longer, but you'd be hard pressed to hear the difference between it on the Air Ride stand and a regular snare stand.

Totally worth it- just buy it already! :)

Gina- When I used to live in MD this was the only place I ever dealt with for gear: http://washingtonmusic.com/drumlist.asp?sd=snare

That's where mine came from, they had a great price too so you may wanna call or email them. Chuck's has always had the best prices and the biggest selection- I only wish I had something like them around here. :(

Thanks Spec A - I'm going to do it this week.

One last question- I was told the snare was issued in two editions- Regular AND Palette series (signed & numbered).
I'm not sure this is correct and I can't figure out online if they are one and the same.
Thanks again all.

I only knew of the one kind, mine is signed and numbered.

If you don't have a good local music shop - call Chuck Levins up (that link I posted). Those guys are the most knowledgeable and helpful I've ever run across.

And they'd totally ship to anywhere too. :)

Thanks for the link Anthony! It sent me on an hour detour looking at snares then cymbals and, somehow, I don't know how, I started thinking about going back to my once-upon-a-time first choice of dream cymbal, Zildjian Sweet Ride/hats (they are gorgeous)...but someone please save me...and then I became convinced that I must have a sizzle ride (was quickly outbid on ebay for 602 20' sizzle)...then I went back to paiste.com...and then back to your link...ahh the internet!

PS: Dive, woot on the bass collection :)

Skip, you will not regret your investment. Awesome drum, loud, but warm and very responsive to really soft stuff. Weighs half a ton, though.

I've also got one of these snares. I was in the market for a new one last year - initially thought I'd snag a Ludwig Black Beauty. Stopped by the local drum shop and they were just taking the Copeland Model out of the box. Sounds great, and yes-- weighs a ton for a 5" snare. As previously mentioned, each one has a badge on the interior that appears to have been signed by SC himself. Very nifty. Well worth the $$$.
