Anyone know if the "Rhythmatist" tour was filmed?

Anyone know if the "Rhythmatist" tour was filmed?

Postby selenapan9 on 26 Mar 2011 13:00

Forgive me if this has already been asked, and I am beating the proverbial dead horse. I went to the Raleigh show with two of my girlfriends and would love to have that caught on film. I know it is unlikely, but it never hurts to ask, eh?

Ah well, thanks for responding. I guess this was before the days of hand held video cameras and Iphones :)

I also have never heard of there being a video of the tour.

I almost went to the Raleigh show. By the time I convinced my wife to go, it had sold out. My wife then had a conflict. I should have gone and tried to get a single ticket and have regretted not ever since.

Hating to rub it in, but you did miss a great show. For drummers, or dancers, it was a bit of a dream come true. The show was set up in an amphitheater type style, which meant that the performers were on the floor and everyone was seated around them. This afforded a few brave souls, myself included, the opportunity to get on the stage and dance. I had a blast, got a great compliment from a drummer from New Guinea ( I think) , got a better compliment from Vinx, and managed to coerce my more conservative friend into making a fool of herself with me. Hmmmm, come to think of it, maybe I would rather just remember it than see it. It may turn out that we just looked stupid. ;)

this is a show that's not yet listed on the Police Wiki

http://www.policefans.org/Police_wiki/i ... tists_Tour

if you know the exact date and venue please let me know
if you've got the ticket or other memorabilia please send a scan to dtmrcls at aol dot com

I'm not satisfied with the concert pages which are already on the Police Wiki, as I didn't give proper credit to the people who already contributed passes, posters or other stuff
please let me know (again) who you are and how you'd like to be credited - I'd like to add that!

Sorry. My memory for dates sucks, to put it kindly. However, I have sent a note to the friend who went with me. And this is a woman who remembers EVERYTHING. I mean, she can recite the names of all the Popes. What more can I say? She tends to collect things as well, so she may have other stuff. I just have nice memories. I had a lovely chat with the bass player, who was from Cameroon, I believe. Can't remember his name, but he was a really lovely guy. I'll let you know if I get more info from my friend.

The bass player is Armand Sabal-Lecco. He is awesome and was also in Stewart's band Gizmo.

There has never been any video footage processed or edited as far as I remember. This takes a great deal of already damaged R&R brain cells so without more research, and some help from the Police Wiki, this is what I am capable of remembering.
I flew out to Chicago and recorded the show on ADAT at the VIC theater, and then traveled overnight by tour bus to a University I believe was in Williamsburg, Iowa, where I also recorded the show. There may have been video cameras running in the audience but more research is needed.
Those were the last two shows of the tour. I was meant to be involved in the tour but due to delays, as a result of the Northridge Earthquake, I spent most it in the studio in Los Angeles mixing the final scenes of the film Rapa Nui.

I would LOVE it if those records were made available.

Jeff, I really like the Rapa Nui soundtrack, so good work on that one even if it led to you missing most of the tour.

Thanks for the info, Jeff...even if I am a bit late in noticing your response. Life is crazy and all. I used to be an intelligent woman, but that was before kids and sleep dep. I was hoping to find some video of this for my friend's birthday. She is now a museum director and I would love to torture her with video of her dancing on stage with tribal drummers. I guess my motives aren't exactly pure...lol.

Chicago show was AWESOME! Debated going to the official post-gig party, but a) didn't want to seem like some crazed stalker and b) realized that the chances of actually getting to meet The Maestro were slim-to-none. In hindsight, I shoulda'. Talked a buddy of mine who was in charge of security into passing along a dozen Regal Rock sticks (instead of roses), but who knows if Stewart actually got them.

There's serious money to be made from a CD of that gig.

As it was so unusual, I think there is a niche for it, from a sales perspective. It would be nice if it surfaced somehow. :)
