Hello gang, I've been asked to write a new book about Sting and the Police; no title yet, no graphic cover yet, but the date of release will be around Sting's 60th birthday, that means in October, probably will be released a little earlier. The first book of The Police that I was asked to write was based on the story of the band, and I analyzed the relationship between the three members of the band, and album by album I got deep into the music, their attitude, the reason of the split and covered Sting solo career as well. The foreword was written by Stewart.
Now, the new one will be different as it will be about the lyrics of the song (The Police and Sting solo career); I'm ok with most of the songs, but for some of them I will surely need some help from all of you. Would you help me?
I already know that I won't be paid too much (what a surprise, always like that with books!!!) but I will surely manage to get some books for free to send them to who is going to help me (I will get as many books as possible).
It will be written in Italian, sorry for non-Italian readers...I hope it will have a nice cover, so that you can simply keep it in your collection.
First help: I'm working on OUTLANDOS D'AMOUR and I have written the comments to most of the songs; I'm having hard time with TRUTH HITS EVERYBODY; I can generally talk about the song, telling also that it was a Last Exit song, but can't go much further; not that I need to analyze every line, but for example, what does Sting mean with 'Take a look at my new toy, it'll blow your head in two...'? Does he refers to the 'truth' (toy)? I read any interviews where he talks about it.
I don't get it...any help? If you have more informations about the song, please let me know.
I'm afraid I will get back to you all in the future with more requests, even if basically I have stuff to say about more or less each song...but a little help from my friends will be more than welcome.
Thanks!
Giovanni
