Old Andy stuff

Old Andy stuff

Postby Howstupidmrbates on 23 Feb 2011 00:10

I recently just heard Jon Lord's Sarabande from '76 with Andy on guitar. I had never heard this before, so I found it quite interesting. The entire album is on Youtube and Rhapsody.

I also just recently heard Hot Flash - his failed supergroup with Jack Bruce from a decade ago. I remember asking Andy about this at one of the Baked Potato gigs and he seemed a bit upset that I even knew about it. Perhaps because this project never got off the ground. Jack Bruce's site lists 4 songs they recorded, but I was only able to locate one. I like it.

Thanks for posting that! Jack had posted about it on his site at the time...

I asked Andy's tech Dennis about it a couple years ago. It sounded like the project was a victim of busy schedules...

Thanks.

I donwloaded the HotFlash songs. Sounds interesting.

The timing is good for me since I have been listening to a lot of Andy lately and also thinking about Cream.

And this isn't Andy's only work with a member of Cream after the 1960s.

Cream drummer Ginger Baker played on most of the tracks on Andy's 1995 album Synaesthesia.

I remember back in 1994 the recently departed Gary Moore tried a similar project with Bruce and Baker called BBM. They had one CD that was ok, although the majority of the tracks sounded like Cream rip-offs, not surprisingly.

I listened to the HotFlash tracks today.

Not great, but very enjoyable and Cream-esque. Too bad it never took off.
