Time to Get Our Gamelan Groove On!

Conroy and I did a little driving around Dallas today. The roads still have some ice but are mostly drivable. We went to a bookstore and to Shake Rag record store (where I got Rollins: Sweatbox on vinyl - score!). The rest of our posse is still in transit but should be arriving by this evening.

I got my Thursday ticket changed to Saturday, so I guess I'll be staying another night and driving back Sunday. I'm really gonna be dragging ass at work Monday.

I just went out for the most treacherous cup of Starbuck's coffee I've ever had. It's been below freezing since the snow on Tuesday and the sidewalks are still very icy. They're forecasting another inch of snow early tomorrow.

 Wow, doesn't sound much like Super Bowl weather.

I place another vote for a performance in La Jolla. In the summer! :)

I finally got to my hotel (the luxurious Hampton Inn in Richardson) after an hour's drive from the airport! Between the ice, the traffic and the frickin' Superbowl people I think it's going to be a interesting few days. There was a dude in my plane from Atl who was actually wearing a cheese head.

I'm going to regroup a bit and go join the others at their swank digs.

There's nothing quite like being cheered on by a carload of Nutters while breaking traffic laws.

I'll let someone else explain that one. I'm going to bed now.

Woke up to about 5 inches of snow overnight in Dallas. Hope the show is still on. Gina did an awesome job driving in less than snowy conditions back to the hotel last night after dinner which is amazing considering she is probably the least experienced in driving snow of all the nutters present. She also gracefully broke traffic laws getting us safely to the Humperdinks. We celebrated this by imbibing one of their excellent micro-brewed beers called Buttface Ale. A classic nutter adventure.

You guys aren't going to want to hear this, but due to the snowfall Dallas/Ft. Worth received overnight the Friday performance of Gamelan D'Drum is CANCELED. They're hoping to get a rehearsal and performance in for tomorrow night. We'll keep our fingers (and sticks, mallets, etc.) crossed. So very sorry to the people who traveled; I know this isn't the greatest of weekends so far.

Oh that SUCKS for the people with tickets.

I considered coming for Thursday or Friday but glad I didn't.

I can't say I am surprised. I was in Dallas a couple of years ago when they got an inch of snow and things shut down.

No more winter premieres unless you visit Jose or visions in the southern hemisphere.

DSO needs to update thier webpage at http://www.dallassymphony.com which now states:
February 4-5

Premiere Percussion

Due to inclement weather the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will cancel the concert scheduled for Thursday, February 3 at 8 p.m. The performances on Friday, February 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 5 at 8 p.m. are CURRENTLY still scheduled to take place.
My info came from one of the members of D'Drum about half an hour ago (at the time of this writing). If anything changes, I'll let you know!

i already called to get my ticket refunded and upgraded my seat for tomorrow. I'm bummed because I wanted to see the show from the loge seat but I may as well opt for the best seat I can get since this is only going to be a one-time public performance.

Sucks for us but Stewart must be sooooo crushed! He's spent so much time on this and it's such a cool project.
Don't worry Buddy, your Nutters are here come hell or high, uh, snow! The world premiere WILL happen.

But, seriously, next time think warm!!!!
Who ever thought this would happen though? I'm gonna call the box office and get back in my warm snuggly bed. Or, the pool's full. I could go for a dip

Oh, yeah, and Gina did do an amazing job ferrying us around last night. We kept telling her we didn't *mean* to make her drive the wrong direction down an ice covered street. But beer was beckoning to us from the other side!
She passed her Nutter initiation with flying colors.
