Thanks very kindly! Photos from this era are quite scarce (circulating on the Net anyways) so these are very welcome. Must've seemed strange playing suhc large halls, ones that they wouldn't be able to fill themselves as The Police until at least a year later in many cases!

EDIT: looking at the 1979.01.13 soundcheck photo, it looks as though that might be Andy on bass!

the last link is my fave.. the tour bus ones.

that's great shot of gordo reading with stew opposite and all the detritus on the table, and is that a fetching green tartan shirt the young man is wearing? lovely. number 29. the yellow car, it's all good.

i love that last shot on the tour bus... like how you can see everything inside but nothing outside could, like, be a visual metaphor, yeah, for the band that they turned into, yeah?, the gilded cage and all that crap (too many Schlummifix) , i like the clock over the rear view mirror too...
