We'll have some interesting weather in Dallas this week:

http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.p ... +Statement

"AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO NORTHWEST NORTH TEXAS AFTER
MIDNIGHT MONDAY NIGHT. THE COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REST OF
NORTH TEXAS BY MIDDAY TUESDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN FALLING LATE
MONDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUE FALLING THROUGHOUT THE DAY TUESDAY. MOST OF
NORTH TEXAS IS FORECASTED TO BE BELOW FREEZING BY TUESDAY EVENING.
TEMPERATURES ARE NOT EXPECTED TO WARM ABOVE FREEZING AREA-WIDE UNTIL
FRIDAY."

Pack warm clothes!

Texas weather is very unpredictable so along with those warm clothes you might want to pack something for the possibility of sudden warm weather, but so far I see 30s and 40s. Of course, the past 2 days have been in the upper 60s to mid 70s--this is why I call Texas weather "Sybil."

It's very similar in Alabama. Last week it was freezing, and today I'm wearing shorts.

Dane, can you give us more details about the "meet & greet" on Friday that you mentioned?

On Tuesday there's "An Evening with Stewart Copeland" presented by the symphony, but the deadline for tickets was Thursday. Wish I'd known about it sooner. Oh well.

Crap! I was hoping the weather would be a little warmer than here.
It just better not freakin' snow! Guess I should bring my winter coat after all eh?

Should we plan to meet some where Thursday? I'm getting in around 4:30 on Thursday and then have to pick up my car. I may wait to check in at the hotel until after the show (time permitting).

I've been checking up on the weather in Dallas lately, and the temperatures seem to fluctuate wildly. As we sometimes say up here about our weather, if you don't like the weather in Dallas, wait a few minutes.

I'll be getting into Dallas around 1:30 p.m. and taking a cab to my palatial digs at the Knight's Inn. For transportation, I'll be relying on public transit (which I've been told is rather good) and the kindness of strangers (i.e. Nutters, who are a pretty strange lot.) Of course, I'd pay my share of gas and car rental fees to anyone offering me a lift.
I'm up for whatever dinner plans you all have in mind. I'm just anxious to see you all.

If you guys wouldn't mind, please keep your fingers crossed for me that the next few days go smooth, and I can actually get the heck out of here. I feel a cold coming on and my ancient Dad fell on Thursday and broke his hand and bruised himself up a bit. I've put my kids and siblings on high alert, making them understand that I am NOT on call for a change next weekend. However, it's hard to keep Daddy-o down. He's presently washing the dishes with one hand and utterly refusing my help. My big fear is that he'll decide we need yet one more poorly made shelf in this house and he'll be weilding power tools with his one hand while I'm gone. There's just no seperating an 89 year old from his power tools when he gets the urge to build.
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.

I've pricing car rentals and they're redonculous!!! about 100 bucks a day even for a tiny Chevy piece o' crap Aveo, so I'm going to do the public transportation option, too (I need the exercise anyway). And just to be safe, I changed my reservation for Wednesday (at no charge!) since I was supposed to connect through Milwaukee which is going to get hammered with snow tomorrow and will go through Denver instead.

OK, this is the 3rd time I've tried to post this from my phone. When I hit submit, it sends me back to login and loses my post. I selected "log me in every time I visit" this time, so maybe that'll work.

So, I'm here in Dallas. That was one long-ass drive. So glad I have GPS on my phone. The Knights Inn is definitely no-frills. I posted a pic of the room on Facebook and someone commented "Is that a chalk outline I see on the floor?"

If anyone needs a ride to the performances or dinner, I can drive. I'm in room 234 here, and you can email me at shydaniels at att dot net if you want my cell # to coordinate plans.

Now I'm gonna drink the 40 oz beer I bought in LA, take a shower, and crash.

The mosquito forecast looks ominous! I am wondering if people will have trouble getting in and out as Conroy alludes too. Got my fingers crossed for safe travel for all!

Dallas is iced in and they're telling people to stay off the roads. There go my sightseeing plans. I'm perfectly fine except for the little matter of having nothing but snack food to eat in the room. I guess I may have to eat the Nutter Butters I was saving for you guys.

This is bullshit.
