I hope y'all have a great time and of course give good reports back for those us not able to shell out the cash.

I would love to see Stewart for the meet & greet but maybe/hopefully he will do something else this year that I can attend and catch up with the nutters.
La Jolla seems sooo long ago... so last year.

and
encourage them to perform D'drum in other cities. Id love to see it but Im sure Dallas is going to be a freaking madhouse only days before the superbowl!

Go to Rise No 1 for dinner. It is fantastic!! Delicious http://www.risesouffle.com/
Also for yummy inexpensive food Zaguan http://www.zaguanbakery.com/
If you want to try something really interesting then try a Korean Spa - women, i strongly suggest the scrub and massage. It is amazing. http://www.kingspa.com/ads/dallas-aw.php

I got my radiator fixed today, so my car is now ready for the drive. Now I just need to go shopping for something symphony-worthy to wear.

That spa that Jenny M posted looks tempting, as do the restaurants. But I'm eager to compare Texas and Alabama BBQ!

Looks like there's a decent place near the Knight's Inn called Famous Smokey John's Barbeque though it's only open until 4 except for Friday
Here's some reviews for it:

As a non-meat-eater, I usually feel like such a party-pooper when talk of BBQ rolls around. However, I do eat fish, and that place conroy's talking about seems to have an intriguing catfish dish. I'm in.
I've been to Texas before and found my dietary restrictions to be difficult in the land of steak. Even when I finally found a place that sold veggie burgers, I was asked if I'd like bacon on my burger. But this was years ago. I'm hoping things are a little more vegetable friendly there these days.

I'd like to have BBQ at least once while I'm there, but I'm fine with eating wherever everyone else wants to go for a get-together. After a couple of days of carnivorous indulgence I'll probably be ready for something lighter.

I hope to have some culinary adventures in Mississippi or Louisiana on the way there and back, too.

Thanks so much for that, police fan! What a great interview and video! I'm even more excited about my little trip to Dallas now. One week to go! (I got a good laugh out of Stewart's image of the pygmies cursing the big white guy for taking all their music away.)

Honestly, some of the best BBQ comes from the hole in the wall places around Dallas. There's one near the South Side that I thought was great--I think it's called Off The Bone on Lamar Ave.

Not far from the Meyerson is McKinney Avenue, which has some good bars and restaurants--this would be the Uptown area. I'd stay away from Deep Ellum, since crime and bad parking has driven people away. The West End has also gone downhill. One of my favorite hangs was the Ginger Man (on Boll St. off of McKinney).

Or, you could go down by the American Airlines Center and the W Hotel. Quite a few places around there and that's not far from the Meyerson as well.
