OT: WHAT'S IT DOING OUTSIDE??

Hissing it down on the Isle of Wight and quite cold as well.

I'm looking forward to the lighter evenings when I don't have to walk the dogs in the dark after work. It's damn difficult picking up dog poo by torchlight!

Bring on Spring!

We're dodging the major snow storm bullet again this winter in the DC area. They're calling for about 2-3" where I live and hopefully will miss out on the sleet.

Well, I got my wish. The power stayed on and I didn't have to work today. Unfortunately there's no pretty snow, just ice covering everything. I may not be going to work tomorrow either, if the roads are still icy.

I couldn't go anywhere even if I wanted to. My screen doors are frozen shut.

We are supposed to get slammed tomorrow night with 6-12 inches of snow. It's pretty and I don't mind a day off, except that my vacation days are in short supply and I'd rather take a day to go to the beach in the summer. So, is it Spring yet?!

Jan is fine
Tassie has had little rain and practically no summer (well Hobart) Up north they are flooding.

For Queensland and NSW can not say the same

75% of Queensland is declared an disaster area, 12 dead, 67 missing
Brisbane is a mess but not as high as they thought it would go however it is not over

some areas of NSW are also under threat

Last year was the fires in Victoria now this.
Keep all those who had lost their homes and loved ones in your prayers
They have to wait now for the levels to drop before a clean up can even begin
I have been watching this for days and it is so heartbreaking but we Australians are a tough lot and always band together when the tough time comes.

Many amazing stories of others, complete strangers helping each other

Freezing rain, freezing rain, & more freezing rain here. I'm crossing my fingers that I don't lose electricity. Lots of warnings that power lines could start snapping under the weight of all of that ice. Such a huge storm. Everyone, stay safe!

Not only we fighting floods, we have a huge cyclone heading to North Queensland

one of the reasons I like living in Tassie is we really do not face mother nature at her worst

I see NY is facing major snow storms

Came here especially to check in on Visions! So glad to find you here, Jan, and to hear you and your family are safe! Such horrible reports on the news from Queensland. Stay safe!

Same to Julia and everyone in the Midwest U.S. And Northeast. And...well, pretty much everywhere!

We are stranded by three feet of accumulated snow, now covered in about an inch and a half of ice! Fingers crossed that we'll lose no trees this year, and that power will stay on. Kids have had 10 snow days since Jan. 5...well past what they've budgeted for. At this rate they'll be in school 'til July.

Oh my Nancy. Stay warm and dry! Trevor's probably happy about the snow days unless he's getting cabin fever!
Roxanne is probably loving the snow!
