Cymbal Question

Postby GinaSuperCat on 05 Mar 2007 19:57

Anyone here heard much of--or better yet--have any Saluda cymbals...I just found out there are made *here* and I wanted to see what the word was...I can't get out there for a day or so, so am collecting info from all available sources in the meantime!

tks..ya I'm seeing varying degrees from ehhh to good...I am about 90% towards Paiste atm...with occasional flights of Zildjian fancy...but I just found out that Saluda was like 7 miles from my house and I was tripping on that fact for a bit...and thought I'd get some more info!

Saluda

Postby drummike on 06 Mar 2007 13:24

Greetings. I think Saluda takes Chinese-made cymbals blanks, made from b20 bronze, and finishes them into various kinds of cymbals. Supposedly, they will adjust a cymbal to the buyer's tastes. I personally haven't tried them, but they did reply quickly to a question I had about one of their cymbals that was on ebay.

I know they make a line of custom cymbals that have recieved some good reviews, but like most, I have never heard them. Saluda is a young company, so they not have the distribution of the big guys. I would tend to lean towards the more experienced Zildjian, Sabian & Paiste if you can't see and hear them in action- -for me a test-drive is a must when buying cymbals. Good luck Gina.

Thanks all for the replies :) The Paiste dealer in town does is an authorized dealer just doesnt have them in stock, its by order...It looks like I won't be buying until 2008 at this point, LOL, but I want to know exactly what to get and I agree taking them for a test run is the only way...nothing beats a brick and mortar all drum shop, anyhow...which will be a drive from here :)
