Time to Get Our Gamelan Groove On!

Time to Get Our Gamelan Groove On!

Postby luddite lady on 06 Dec 2010 05:43

In order to facilitate organizing, I think it's time we started a seperate thread for those planning to attend the premier in Dallas. Some have mentioned about sharing hotel rooms and whatnot in other threads. We could use this space to start up such conversations and share pertinent information.
I for one still have not got my act together on this yet (i.e. no firm travel plans or accomodations), but I recognize that I have to get moving on it really soon.
So, Meg you mentioned about sharing a hotel room. Have you had any takers on that yet?

I'm still thinking about this. I'd love to see the performance and meet everybody, and I'd like to see the state where I was born (haven't been back since I was a baby).

On the other hand, my car's not in great shape, and I hate flying. So, still undecided.

Ooops, sorry for the cross post. JUST posted in Gio's thread about the gig.

I have my free plane ticket booked and reserved a room at the luxurious Knights Inn where Conroy was staying. I got the room for <$100 with TWO double beds. THIS is truly amazing as it is SUPER BOWL weekend in Dallas. SO, if any of you goofs decide to join me, there is sleeping accommodations for 4 (well, if we all like each other).

squeeeee.

Fabulous, empty! Both room and ticket sound great. (That's right. I haven't even bought a ticket yet!) The only problem is I can't e-mail you as I don't know your e-mail address. Could you give me a shout at l u d d i t e v i l l a at m s n dot c o m, and we could work out the details?
Freak! I'm starting to get excited!

I got a call from the Dallas Symphony today that they are moving my seat back because they have to extend the stage. I should have asked them if they were making room for a maple-colored Tama drum kit ;)

OK, I'm pretty much convinced I'm going. I need a vacation, and that's what credit cards are for, right? I'll probably get a ticket for Thursday night, and it looks like that Knights Inn still has some rooms. Now to figure out how to get there....

Stewart is not actually performing his piece. He will be there all three nights but not playing at all.

I am unlikely to be attending at this point.

I finally got my tickets for the Fri. and Sat. performances today! If you are not an American resident, it is not possible to buy tickets through the DSO website. The computer has a little hissy fit when you don't choose any of the fifty states to include in your address. And it thinks my postal code with letters in it is just so wrong.
Phoning the symphony yourself is the best way to do it. I spoke to a guy named Horacio (no word of a lie) who set me up just fine even though his computer wasn't too pleased with my address either. He advised that non-American ticket buyers should just call him or any of the other helpful staff at (214) 692-0203.
Now to book my flight! This is gonna be such fun!

Just a note that one of our local sportscasters (psyched that the Iggles might actually - possibly - have a chance at making the SuperBowl this year) has said that hotel rooms are already sold out in the Dallas area around that time. Did not verify this as it is highly unlikely I'll be going at this point, but, those who are pondering should start making efforts to reserve rooms asap - and perhaps post link at where they were able to book.

I didn't have trouble getting a room at the Knights Inn for Mon-Thurs nights (I want to spend a few days and sightsee, but get out of there ahead of the football fans). On the weekend nights the rates doubled, and there were almost no rooms left.
