Looks like we'll have about 10 people. PJ Clarke's recently opened a restaurant in that area and here's there DC menu: http://pjclarkes.com/DC/pjclarkes/menu.php How does that sound to everyone?

It's lunchtime here in the Townsend household and that menu looks real good to me. Plus, they take reservations and are close enough. I'll be on the Metro and on foot at that point.

That sounds good. My mom and I are leaving around noon that day. I was thinking of taking the train in from northern virginia as someone suggested. I better look it up, because the last time I took it in from Woodbridge to see a concert, we were quite confused.

Your best bet is taking the Metro in from Springfield, VA (it's really close to Springfield Malll). It's a few exits north of Woodbridge. That's the end of the Blue Line and the parking is free on Weekends. PJClark's is a short walk from the Farragut West and McPhereson Metro Stations if you are taking the Blue or Orange Line. If you are coming the north where a few of the ladies are staying off the Red Line, you'll want to take the Red Line to Farragut North.

Yes! That Franconia/Springfield blue line to Farragut was exactly what I was looking at. Glad to know the parking is free on weekends. It was confusing on the website, because it tells how much parking is but then says that metro-line parking lots are free. Do you know if those lots are well-differentiated from the pay lots?

During holidays and weekends (and after Midnight during the week) the gates stay open when you exit. One thing I just thought of that people taking the Metro should keep in mind is that they routinely perform track maintenance on weekends, which could significantly increase the time it takes into town from 'burbs, especially if they're single tracking. Unfortunately, I will be out of town most of this week so i won't be around to listen to the all news station that does a great job of passing this info along to the public. So, I'd recommend checking the Metro's website http://www.wmata.com/ around Thursday or after and see if there are any travel advisories on the Blue line (and Orange line for those coming from Vienna and Fairfax).

Thanks, Con! I will check the website for sure. I also noticed an advisory that the escalators are being worked on, so I had to make sure the elevators were working. Don't want to needlessly drag my 75 year old mama up endless flights of stairs.

Can anyone advise me if there's any point in dragging my copies of I'll Be Watching You and Last Train in the event that there is an autograph session (I particularly don't like the thought of carrying I'll Be Watching You around DC, but...!) I've been to a couple of book signings in NYC recently and the rules varied. Steve Martin would only sign books--no records, videos, etc. Lewis Black would sign anything you put in front of him. When I've been to Andy's book events in the past, he seemed willing to sign anything but if it's a big crowd (no idea how big the venue is), they might restrict things a bit. Personally, I would not bring "I'll be Watching You" because of its size.

Now that you mention this, I wonder if his newest book will be available, and if I'll be looking for a FedEx location on Sunday morning to ship it to myself at home!

A few things come to mind:

1) Did anyone tell Andy about PJ Clarke's? (LOL)
2) Did anyone get Sally from the Supercats? This would be an excellent opportunity to deliver her.
3) I would expect his new book will be on sale. Imagine that's part of the reason behind the event.
I have both the others signed so maybe I'll shoot for bringing a CD. They're smaller, too.
